Sal Goes Rio With A Bit Of Vision

Well, he is either thinking to go for it and chuck fish and plants in as he suggested right in the beginning OR he is thinking "hopefully she will bring me a nice big mac meal when she comes to visit on Sunday" ;)

Phew, an extra Big Mac meal for myself

Well, I'll speak to the man later and if he agrees we will probably get plants at Wharf while out there.

Planting and chucking a few fish at a time it is then.

How many plants to I need for this silent cycle thing? I was thinking last night (Oh yes, I can think!) that I don't really want that many plants in the tank at all, so I hope it will be ok with less plants and more water changes instead. Got nothing else to do at the moment, so might aswell change the water daily if needed.

I want one tall plant for the back left and then some smaller ones scattered around the front and the wood.

The plants I definitely want to get in are:

Hydrocotyle verticillata
Some crypts, whatever I fancy

Then possibly:

Hygrophila polysperma rosanervig

Any suggestions on a tall background plant?

I love AMMONIA cycles...lol

i knew i'd win if i planted the seed.

LOL Ian. I call defeat

Would bacopa work at the back left corner? It's growing well and tall in my other tanks.

Any fast growing stems would work. 70% is usually advised for silent cycles, nothing to stop you removing them when the filter has cycled then you can scape properly. I have some cabomba you can have when you come tomorrow. 'Sup to you. :)

any type of Hygrophila normally does the trick. That or you could just add some mature media, and add what you wanted in the first place. In fact, you could silent cycle with the plants you wanted.

Thanks, minnnt, but I really don't like Cabomba. It's not my kind of plant *fussy me*

If Hygrophila is good, then I'll get more of that. Got some here and off now to get more. I will stock it very slowly, so it is more of a fish-in cycling with a bit of silent cycling if that makes sense. Just got really bored staring at empty tanks, I know I know... And then next week I can concentrate on my Iwagumi a bit more once I have my rocks

I got plants!!! :hyper: Will give it a 100% water change now and start planting. Updated pictures tonight
