i'm liking the little ledge thingy you have going on top of the right rock, i tthink that will look good. The c.helferi could do with thinning out though???

Your child looks ready to do some damage. Do NOT give him detergent, full containers of aquarium food, etc.

nice comments allways welcome

As opposed to what?

I really like the background plants for this tank, but it may be getting too symmetrical. Maybe some thinning out will help achieve a less symmetrical look. The front needs to fill in a bit too. Looks a little too defined right now. I really like the bare substrate though. Put some corydoras in there. Your tank is telling me that you need a nice school of them. Perhaps some C. habrosus, they are a dwarf species that would really look smart on that light substrate. They school well too and are quite active.

thanks lljdma06.

hopefully the riccia slates should get rid of any lines. i see what you mean about symmetrical appearence. to be honest i think im going to strip this tank down and start agian in a few weeks. ive learnt valuble lessons with this tank which i'll take with me into the next setup.

i'll keep everyone informed.im going to let the riccia grow so ive got loads of the stuff.

I love this tank, shame you are rescaping it. bet that will as good though ;) What style are you thinking about going with?

thanks aaron, and you biulu :good:

well aaron, im still in the process of thinking up ideas for a good scape. i want the scape to be strong enough to be entered into next years ADA and AGA competitions. GRAND is the word i would like to describe my next attempt.
riccia is going to play a big part in the next scape. as you can tell ive got loads now and im just loving the effect it gives. i trying to plan the whole scape so it give a 3 dimensional view due to my tanks high nature i reckon with careful layout i can exaggerate the feeling of depth. the whole thing might go horribly wrong but you've got to try.

I really love those latest pictures. The sense of depth works well there, so I'm really looking forward to seeing your latest project. Your journals were one of the decisive factors in making me start a planted tank after my long break from aquarium-keeping (instead of the Malawi setup I had in mind). I used to mostly ignore plants and had never even heard of Amano before I started lurking on these forums. Then I just went "wow... it's possible to do that?"

Hopefully I'll have somewhat presentable pictures to post when I get my hands on a camera in a week or two. I underestimated the amount of plants I needed when I started up the tank and now my poor little Lilaeopsis are battling green hair algae to the bitter end (everything else is growing brilliantly and without algae problems though). Hopefully my new army of trumpet snails, bristlenose and additional plants can turn the tide.

thanks mr bliss, it's great that you've got inspiration again. i too was the same a year ago, then i discovered amano....enough said

it is certainly amazing how many plants you initialy need when seting up a planted tank, your Lilaeopsis, is it in a nutrient rich substrate? ive got it in my small iwagumi set-up and it too is struggling. you might want to consider e tennelus instead.

here's a couple more pics
