Trying to keep myself occupied right now, so I've been monkeying with my young daughter. I took a picture of our betta and edited it.
Me: You know the fish you say is boring? It turns out that he's one of those rare color changing bettas! *shows photo*
Daughter: OMG OMG OMG OMG *runs to the tank* He changed back!
Me: Maybe he'll change again soon. *proceeds to edit photo to be green*
Daughter: OMG OMG OMG OMG *runs back to the tank* Darnit, I missed it again!

Now she says she really wants to keep the fish. And has been going on and on about wanting him to change color again while watching the tank constantly and coming up with all these theories on how he changes color.
Buy her a chameleon... then she can really see color changes

She's savage and very creative. She'll set up a booby trap or something. She's done it before.
We'd love to! We used to keep several different species, but we aren't allowed any reptiles at our apartment.
She's convinced herself that using a flashlight is how to make him change color and she has gone through every flashlight to check her theory.

Gotta be one of the best parts pf having kids I assume. Being able to tell them nonsense and have them believe it. And it keeps them occupied, lol.
You need to buy a color changing LED light for that tank... one with a remote control.
Exactly! What good is having kids if you can't mess with them occasionally... or relentlessly?!
FLUVAL includes a really nice one with the FLUVAL Flex. One of my friends has it, and it’s super nice.
