Above is the tank in its current form, minus the beautiful female green terrors .
The wood does fit pretty well but for the stocking i've got think i might try chop it up abit?

Now here's the dangerous bit of it all, the tank will be going upstairs :fun:, that part really isn't worrying me but will a stand made out of 18mm MDF hold it?

I can't load the pictures at the moment, but I'm commenting so I don't miss it! :)

Pretty sure you'll be able to skim through it in no time though
Alright, the 1st coat of paint is on the stand - it seems steady enough :fun:

Moving the tank is my worry, it's going to be a struggle getting it up the bend on the stairs .

Here's my plan though just to make sure my moving is correct;
1# drain the tank water into drums
2# remove decor
3# remove and bag fish
4# remove substrate
5# move tank upstairs
6# borrow next doors 90-120L tank and place it where i just moved the 240L from
7# fill next doors tank with drum water drained from tank
8# add heater/filter and fish to next doors tank
9# scape 240L tank upstairs
10# 100% new declor water in 240L, leave to warm up
11# catch and bag fish from next doors 90-120L
12# acclimate fish into 240L
13# win?

I would try and get some buckets to keep your fish in, instead of bagging them and then you only need to move them once because I think they'll be ok for longer in a bucket than a bag. Then just remove most of the water from the buckets to carry them upstairs and net them back into the tank.

I just worry about damaging them when netting them and it's quite a hassle for you and a stress for the fish to try and net them. If you are going to go the bucket route be sure and cover them while they are sitting because I've had fish jump out of buckets before!

CHEEKY!!

can boil the kettle a few times to aid the heating of the water, done it more times than i can count. bucket or container a better idea than a bag.

I'll prob have the fish sitting in the other tank for a day or two so i've got plenty of time to scape the tank before they get re-added.
But i'll bucket them, will prob take alot longer then i think to dig out all that sand and move the tank.
It'll just be the green terror and shark in the tank borrowed from next door, krib needs a rehome if anybody local is interested :hey:

Was thinking of getting a Hydor 300w external heater aswell seen as i've heard nothing but good things, anybody got a link to a cheap one?
Need to save as much money as possible

Haha! Forget about it! I dont want to even talk about the traumatic night ive had fish wise. I rehomed all those ones i tried to pawn off on you, i had to basically dismantle the whole tank to catch them and still didnt get them all. Poor Bruce...i think it suits him, no?
I got mine (used) on ebay for, i think around £24?

I've got £150 burning in my pocket that needs spent :hyper:, going to put external heater on the bottom of the wish list though as it's not that important really

Not sure minnnters, used to be able to hand feed them, touch them and everything but they just turned really paranoid.
Random spasms, jumping out of the water ect - was a topic out good few month ago but nobody really knew
The male is a little touchy also, spends most of his time hiding.

I'm open to some stocking options btw :p was thinking of trying a female but my male is so #40## soft it would prob turn nasty
so was thinking something like this, as wills recommended a while back :D

green terror aka the giant cardinal
bleeding heart tetra (not a massive fan on these but they're better then cardinals i've got in my 90L )
rainbow shark
bristlenose

Ah right. Sorry to hear that mate.

Bleeding Heart Tetra's are amazing, definately one of my favourites!! Fair few pretty pennies though if going for a decent sized shoal.

Rainbow Sharks are nice too. Mine was really chunky when i rehomed him. Wish i still had him tbh.

Bristlenoses... L144, L158, L309 or L328. :good:

Not sure how many bleeding hearts i'd be able to fit? I'd need them @ a decent size too otherwise they'll prob end up as food
Such a slow progress building and painting tank stands, i just wanna get going

Shame you can't keep what it's on, it's perfect!!! :D

I would say you could stock 10 Bleeding Hearts. :good:

That'll actually be the fastest part I sure. I've dug 150 lbs from my 75g and it took less then 20 mins. Moving my tanks and scaping them is the slow part :)

Good luck with this, I like your wood. :good:
