Portinho Da Arrábida - Uma Vista De Troia

That's great, Andy. Glad they are perking up for you. It may well be that they are sensitive to CO2 injection. I may give these fish a try again in my non-CO2 system. The bioload is small enough and none of the other fish, despite being larger, would bother them.

OK last update for a while (or a day :) ) I.....oops, I mean we (better involve the missus) are due at the hospital for C-section in 5 hours.

The Maculatus are behaving themselves now they are moving together, sticking with each other and much less like ditzy shrimp :)

The Corys laid eggs on Thursday however they turned out to be Duds. Have to give them some lessons me thinks. :hyper:

Funny thing is the first few days the Boraras were doing my head in. After a couple of days the Corys were centre of attention. Not because they were getting frisky but just that they seem to be really really happy in this scape. They were happy in their previous scapes too however this one seems to have made them much less shy and they are out and about a lot more. (may just be its summer and the 4 and 5 year old are outside rather than jumping on the floor. lol)

So the above has meant that I pretty much ignore the Bororas because I'm glued to my lovely black velvet Corys :)

The count is most definately 16 or is it 17. lol Hard to count these fish.

On another note, my selfish missus decided that the 'emersed' cupboard was needed for storing such useless things as pushchairs and hiding away a dining table that she doesn't want in the kitchen. Couldn't find my knuckle duster so I just agreed.

The 23 litre tank is now up off the ground, the emersed shelving removed, the dining table in it's place.

Why am I detailing this? Well removing this 'facility left me with the 2 x 18W T8s on electronic ballasts so I have rigged one up behind the tank, just below the substrate level shining up. Gives a nice glow through the frosted backing sheet I put on the tank but not decided which colour light I like yet. Will post up pics in a day or 2.

I'm also going to see what these Boraras look like under some pink light. Just to see if they look like other pictures. I love pure white light and I love the natural colouration but would be nice to see what they look like 'enhanced'.

Little known fact I read earlier about the origin of the name Boraras. It is Ras Bora backwards. i.e. BoraRas. lol

You probs already knew that but made me chuckle.

Right gonna get a few hours sleep. Draining day tomorrow what with expending energy 'feigning ' sympathy whilst only having eyes for a new girl (or boy....Ooh err)

Must remember to take the Sunnies to hide the 'tears of pride'

Good luck tomorrow! Ian's been eating curry for the past few nights waiting for his.

Sometimes corydoras really take to a new scape.

Have fun with the lighting, I look forward to the enhanced pictures.

All the best,

llj

Will resist the urge to clog Andy's thread up with spam, suffice it to say there is always a choice. Having had a cs once, twice or even 3, 4, or 5 times does not means no choice and inevitable cs for subsequent births. What is needed is caregivers who know the literature, and being educated and supported unconditionally.

Anyway, I imagine by now the op has been done, so congrats to Andy and family of course! :- Presuming from your message that you didn't know what you were having so welcome earthside little miss or little mister :welcome: hope everything went to plan and recovery is smooth. Enjoy your babymoon :) :good:

Quick spam Caz, after the first vbac attempt that failed and this being number 4 they wong let my oh risk it.

i did text Andy earlier, so don't think i'm ignoring him!

As per above for us. First was emergency C section. Second opted for. We were basically told by 2 consultants that we did have a choice and we could go for natural however there was a very high risk of haemmhorage due to the 2 weak spots in the womb and that could risk baby and mother. Hence to say the wife wanted to try natural this time but decided against the risk :) HAving nearly died in the C section today because the womb wouldn't contract properly once 'emptied' due to the 2 weak spots I think it was pretty sound advice.

Mummy is perking up though (still a bit out of it to be honest when I went home to look after the boys)

Kaysha Ashanti (Not my choice. lol) was born at 2-45 weighing in a t 6lb 13oz. Ohh that means 'it' is a girl :)

She's our lightest and last (tubes been cut whilst the womb was out. May have added to the problem of blood loss.) The first was 8lb 14oz. The second was 10lb 4oz. Needless to say the first was much much bigger at 5 years old than the second which doesn't bode well for this little girl. That would mean she will be huge at 5. lol

Thanks for the congrats peeps. Will let you know how mother is feeling tomorrow.

Andy

Congratulations Andy! All my best to you and your family. :)
