Alright, this is the final stocking for the tank:
  • Black Arowana x1
  • Black Ghost Knifefish x1
  • Fire Eel x1
  • Green Phantom Plecostomus x1
  • Lima Shovelnose Catfish x3
  • Senegal Bichir x2 (1 pair, 1 male, 1 female)
  • Siamese Tigerfish x1
  • Suriname Geo x5
What do you think. Overstocked?

Think you really need to read up on what you are doing you just throwing fish into a tank. This isnt a community tank with guppies and corries these are very aggressive fish. What are the dimensions of this tank and you may wan to asses your budget you will need a fairly large tiger if you want to keep them with the aro as they are very slow growing if you get a 8" pulcher you could be looking at anywhere up from $600 indos (microlepsis), campbelli, and quads are all cheaper but not that much cheaper probably around $300 for the campbelli and $150 for the others what studz was talking about are silver tigers and these do absolutely fine in fresh water they dont need brackish. What are the dimensions of this so called tank?????

English, please?

I didn't understand a word you wrote. What are 'pulchers', indos, campbellis, and quads?? ???? The tank is 72x24x30", or 6x2x2.5'.

I'm not going to bother posting a proper reply as it seems so confusing what your actually doing it's not worth the time getting my head round it.

But years experience means naff all in my books. People will say they have been keeping fish since they were like 5 of something silly but thats not proper experience. I helped my parents with our pond since i was 7 or so so that means I'ved been keeping fish for 13 years!

Yet I'll say I'ved kept fish for 3 years because thats when I bought MY first tank and only I maintained the tank.

Reading books is ok for some info but you can't beat hands on experience information.

That's 4 years, so technically, I'm more experienced than you are.

Certainly doesn't show.

This shows you haven't done much reading.... all the names mark is quoting are the species of tiger fish, although prices are a touch over the top and campbelli will be the most expesive.

My 19" asian aro got on fine with my 6" pulcher.

Yes, I have done my reading, but the only species my book lists is Coius microlpis aka Datnioides microlepis or the Siamese Tigerperch. It doesn't say anything about 'pulchers' or 'indos' or 'campbellis', or 'quads'!

GobyMaster

Paul seriously mate you can pick up 6-8" campbelli for £85 at the minute but if your lucky enough to find a true pulcher you will pay £300 for an 8" one up to £600 for large ones now mate.

They are different species of Siamese tigerfish

mark7616 - I was refering to silver tigers, but campeblli is also a brackish fish.

Campbellis are the most expensive in the uk, silvers seem to be pretty cheap, but the widebar and thinbar are a medium priced fish around £50, thats what $100 at the current exchange rate, or more like $80 on normal exchange rates.

You just proved my point with the what are comment, you know very little about any of the fish, from the looks of things, that you want to keep...

Was that aimed at me or mark7616???

Campbelli are not the most expensive if you can find true pulcher they will be much more expensive but as there isnt any around then yes your right campbelli would be the most expensive. I was gonne buy a 6" from wildwoods today but ill leave it till next weekend when my big tank has been filled :hey: :hey: :hey: instead I got a Cichla monoculas a clown knife and a new 7" chunky p.palmas snip at £22

£22 for a palmas isnt too bad, BAS in bolton had campbelli's for £80 a throw. and they were only about 3"

The stocking would be ok, I just dont think your ready for those fish. and I wouldnt add the arrow ;)
