flagtails eat algae and fit into large fish communities
but they are also known to suck on the rays disc

Using 8x5x4feet thats 1196.88 gallons figure easily $3000.00 dollars for the tank alone

then you need filtration and heating and stock
thats some gift to ask for
i know what my parents would of said

Also the tank would have to be acrylic you wouldnt get a glass tank that big, and one vital point your 13 I very much doubt you will be alowed a tank this size and you do not realise that what you have said just wouldnt work out. Seeing as your biggest tank is 30g maybe you should just get a 5x2x2 or a 6x2x2 this tank your talking about will never happen its a waste of time even posting it here.

That's really optimistic of you...
13 year olds dont have 7000 to spend on ANYTHING, and if they do have that much they shouldnt spend it anyways. Theres college to think about and the fact that you'll be away from home for 4 years and your parents probably cant take care of all those fish. And then you'll move out and you have to figure out how to move a tank that wont fit through the doorway. It's a disaster waiting to happen. It's best to wait until you have your own place.

dont know if this will help but i will tell you what i am building. now not much is final but this is the idea so far. 2 sheets of 84"long 36"tall 3/4"thick plexiglass - $845 for both sides, 1 sheet 84"long 48"tall 3/4"thick for bottom $567 and 2 sheets 48"long 36"tall 3/4"thick $487. that will be the tank 7'long 3'tall 4'wide 628gal and a whoping $1,899 without all the equipment. im getting 2 fluval fx5 canister filters $279.95 each, and im not sure on heat but i think i will get a couple(6?) 1000w titanium heaters with controller by aqua medic about $100. there are alot more things but mostly small i havent looked into a protean skimer but i will need at least one. anyway i have changed from 4" "L" brackets every 4inches to a metal corner stiping along the whole tank then silicone the inside. so at least that my help with ruff price and such, oh this will weigh around 4 thousand pounds ruff est. but i am building a false floor that is stabelized through the existing floor and extends to the basement so that is a concern for you. good luck.

i dont have pics because i am still in the planning stage as well as i have to gather suplies for the false floor and suport through to the basement, in it self that is a large project. im useing 18 6"x6" studs through the existing floor and 4"x6" cross braces also boxing the bottom and poring 5" of cement at the base for extra suport. should be a little overkill, im going to close in the bracing in the basement and make a storage room. anyways in a couple of months ill post a new topic about the tank and show the floor finished and in progress as well as starting on the actual tank.

haha. i wanted to say 'dont burst his bubble, let him get the tank' but now that i know you're 13. *poop*

Your pretty lucky if you can get your parents to agree to that. And your younger than me!!! I am finally got a 55 gallon tank! But anyway, I don't think the tank sounds like a good idea. Too expensive, to hard to clean, ect.

Well, forget the more realistic tank, if you've read here, you'll know that my parents just agreed that I'm getting a 225 gallon show size tank.

I've completely re-thought what it'll be stocked with, and this is what I've come up with:
  • Black Arowana x2 (1 pair, male and female)
  • Clown Knifefish x1
  • Red Fin Prochilodus (Semaprochilodus taeniurus) x4
  • Redhook Silver Dollar x8
  • Siamese Tigerperch x1
  • Fire Eel x1
  • Ornate Bichir x1
  • Oscar x2 (1 pair, male and female)
  • Mosaic Stingray x2 (1 pair, male and female
The tank will have 3 inches of sand and some caves provided by slate boulders in one corner and 2 or 3 Amazon Swordplants.

I'll get pictures posted when I get the tank (sometime next year  )
