Our Journey To The Salty Side - Part One

Hi and :hi: to the salty side.

I can't see any problem with adding the LR from your biorb to the new tank.

Your fish and inverts will need acclimaising the same as if they were new, you could do it in a bucket :good:

Might I suggest you start your own journal, then people can help you more. Don't forget to add pictures once you start :good:

Sorry just seen you have also posted this as a new thread aswell

Be nice to Bigrents everyone, as of course you will :good: he is a colleague of mine

Needless to say several of our meetings have ended with discussions about marine reef keeping, as you can imagine we have had many the odd look as people have no-idea what we are talking about

:fish:

So this is the mystery man you keep talking about

ehhh, stop it you, no mystery at all, as you well know! Be very careful madam, as between bigrent and I we can amass an army  who all live very close to you

Seffie got her own room, they like to keep her separate :p

Got the extra's  still waiting for unit they are out of stock, hopefully get it next week :good:

So I awake this morning to find, Dracula breathing heavy and laying out in the open (which he rarely does) and lo and behold Bill the nem is sitting in his cave  so I can only assume that Dracula didn't want to give up his cave and he got stung

Then what do I spy..........................eeeekk the small amount of cyno that I have has become a lot more cyno, so I know what I am going to be doing today: big 50% water change, change the rowophos and sorry boys but no food for you today and the lights are going dim much earlier :good: Think will get the old man to change the membrane on the RO unit as soon as possible as the TDS meter reading has crept up a wee bit. Mind you I tested my tap water the other day and it was 380 so am very glad that I am not using that in the tank

Anything else I should be doing?

Well today I parted with my brackish fish to Fuzzbut in a carpark somewhere in Rayleigh  - well Swallows actually - Trod and I had a little troll around there but found the livestock, in particular the corals and marine fish - (you will not believe it but they have dayglow decorations in the marine fish holding tanks) all too soul destroying to stay long. They have hundreds of juvie clowns on sale and some orchard dottybacks - Oh Truck, was I tempted by the dottybacks :good: The corals, well the majority of them, but in particular the softies looked so sad, we peered into the holding tanks and most of them had no noticable flow  which is why I suspect the leathers etc were not showing even one little polyp, the water appeared to be trickling in from one side and being taken out the other and when I say a trickle, I really mean a trickle!

ps almost forgot what I was going to say  - I now have a juwel 180 sitting nearly empty :good: what to do next.................

oh seffie, everytime i go to my LFS and see that dotty back i want him SO bad!!! i have reserved him :shifty: :yahoo: :D (hes tank bred, but the colours are astounding for saying he is!)

also reserved my self, a lush pink toadstool  and to top it off, the dotty-back is £25!!! (i paid £10 to have him reserved, i get it back though if he doesnt make it god forbid. and the toadstool was £15!!!! i was like holy @!$^ BARGAIN!! so i have got that reserved for £5 too)

it urges me to sell something else to raise funds for live rock

go on seff, i know your gonna crack next time you see an orchid dotty back

ooouuhh! an empty rio 180. i bet it wont be empty for long :shifty: so what are your plans for this? are you transferring livestock from the nano? or are you going for something different?

You know you're going to seffie

Well before seffie came round and dragged me to swallows for a clandestine meeting in the carpark :ninja: I was in the middle of rearranging my aquascaping, oh gawd ever wish you hadn't started something
I was so unhappy with the tank as it was, I decided to redo the whole thing, got 2 buckets out, 1 for LR, 1 for corals, emptied water from the tank into both buckets and began. Now I made a big mistake I was going to leave the left hand side as it was, mainly because Ben was settled and I didn't want to disturb him, but he wasn't on the piece of LR that I thought he was, so as I picked up a piece up he came with it
Anyway got it all back in, I have managed to get all the ricordea's together, much nicer, zoa's in the middle, GSP middle left, toadstool back on the left, xenia's to the right, Ben though, is now hanging desparately on the glass on the right side of the tank :( he is not happy, I'm not going to stress, I'm sure he will sort himself out

Right knowing what you lot are like here are pictures :p

Thanks Truck, I am beginning to wonder if you are ever happy with your own tank  still not really happy, but it does leave room for some more corals :good:

Yes, I have seen nems on the glass of tanks before, I shall wait and see, but I refuse to stress :look:
