Omg

Hi guys, if you give me as much information as possible about dyed fish, I will write a template email, (with all your help of course), which we can use to send to these sellers.

Well here is my viewpoint:
Yes I think the man should stop. And yes I think this practice is very sick. I feel very sad for these parrot fish. Not just because they are dyed and will have a shorter life span but because people are so against the fact that they are dyed they will never get a proper home or proper respect. I understand that most of you don't want to support people by paying for these fish...but it's not the fishes fault it's dyed. I view it as a parent giving up it's child or a friend not being friends with somebody just because they are sick with an illness. Its not fair. It's not fair that they are dyed and it's not fair they can't have a decent home or life becuase of something that they cannot help. I don't own any dyed fish but it maakes me wonder what happens to those that don't sell and it makes me sad.

Here is what I've done in the past to sellers.

Ref:- (eBay link here)

Just so u know this item you have got for sale is classed as man made fish, the fish have also been injected and/or dyed to make the colour of the fish, the natural colour is orange. However over time the colour will fade and return to the original base colour. and these facts have not been stated on your description.

I'm only contacting you as I believe that by not stating these facts could be breaking eBay's rule of false description.

Also to produce 1 coloured parrot fish many other usually die due to the stress fully nature of injecting the whole body or by acid dipping them to strip the mucous layer then either dipping the colour or laser tattooing them. It's been stated that about 2-3 fish out of every 100, survive this treatment and the importing process.

Whats wrong with dying fish?... It doesnt look like they are in pain. They just seem to look cooler.

Michael jackson bleached his skin, and she seems just fine!! :hyper: (ok so bad example) But i really dont understand why it should be made illegal.

Does it harm the fish?
Does it shorten there lives?
Does it do anything other than change there scales colour?

I genuinelly don't know its effects, so don't think that i support or oppose it.

Does it harm the fish? Yes, imagine having a needle injected with dye into your skin.
Does it shorten there lives? Yes, dyed fish are weakened and will often die easier/quicker.
Does it do anything other than change there scales colour? As said above.

DeathByDyeing.org is not one to reply to emails. I emailed them a really spiffy banner I made and they never put it up. :(

If you had an albino fish and gave it food containing natural dyes, would it not change colour? i.e., like flamingos do.

Anyway, I'm off to get some bleach and tie dye my goldfish
