Something i've never really spoke about on the forum, is that im a hugggeee Oasis fan. Anybody else a fan?
Whats your Oasis story & whats your favourite album, song, gig, member? You ever seen them live?

As for me, saw them live only once. Last year in Manchester, was the best night of my life! My favourite member is Noel (like everyone elses favourite is Noel)
My 3 favourite songs are Slide Away, Cast No Shadow & Live Forever. Although im listening to a a lot of impressive b-sides recently. I love all there albums from Definately Maybe to Dig Out Your Soul!

Been learning a few tunes on guitar recently aswell.

I know there are more Oasis fans out there, so lets have you then!

James. :good:

Hi James

Big fan myself and have been since 1994!! 16 yrs!! When I think myself and my mate in a saturday shop job were big fans it feels like a different life when I had no wife, kids, mortgage and worries so your thread has brought back a bit of nostalgia for me

I used to buy every single and loved all the b - sides until my house was burgled 3 years ago and all my cds taken

I saw them twice in Bolton Reebok stadium when I was with an ex girlfriend so at leats 8 yrs ago. The support was brilliant Johnny Marr band and Happy Mondays!!

I then saw the a week after my daughter was born in 2005 at the City of Manchester Stadium, the support were the Doves who I hated then but soon became one of my favourite bands who I wish I could see again and a great band called Redwalls who remain to this day one of the best bands I have seen live!!!
They;re just a great band, Liams my favourite memnber I'm not a huge fan of Noels singing voice and hate Don't Look back in anger

I know that Definately Maybe came out whenI worked in that shop and the Morning Glory came out in my first year of uni as I remember the Student Union bar playing Champagne Supernova at the ned of the night!!

No matter what criticism they get they were a band that defined a generation and had everyone talking about them

Best Oasis story I used to have a major crush on the dinnerladies daughter in Uni and asked her out all the time but she had a boyfriend. 11 yrs later she messaged me on facebook and told me that everytime she heard Wonderwall it reminded her of when she snogged me in the SU to that song!!! After all that time chasing her I did snog her but it seems that all that cheap booze wiped my moment of victory from my memory!! ha typical

Off tolisten to my favourite Oasis album Definately Maybe!!!

I'm in the same boat as Simon, i have been a fan since 'Definatly' Maybe came out. I was into the Roses anyways, but I remember putting Definiatly Maybe on in my mates old XR2 and saying to him, give this a listen, and being blown away. I have never looked back, seen them 5 times. Knebworth being the best IMO. I bought every single, just for the B side as well. And then had to buy em again, just because they bought them out in a Benson and Hedges style collectors box!

As for albums the first 2 were second to none, but my fave album was Be here now. If you put that on now, you actually realise how ahead of there time they where (even if Noel slammed the album).

I still don;t like Be Here Now  but I like xr2's!!! wish I had one you never see em anymore its like they;ve all just disappeared!!!

I think they all rattled to death and disintergrated. When my mates hit 60mph it used to have this rattle as though it was gonna impload!

I still see the odd XR3 about, though.

I'm not a fan, but yes they were a major band having a huge influence. But saying they were ahead of their time isn't really true. They WERE their time. Some bands are behind some ahead but oasis played the right songs for the moment. Most bands who are ahead of their time are hated for years until time catches up,

I was referring to the album being ahead of its time Chris, not the band.

Agreed 100%. Sex pistols, beastie boys, NWA... There bands which were ahead of there time. Usually bands that kick up a fuss. Same goes with albums and I don't think oasis did that with any of there albums.

^^^was you about when Definately Maybe came out? (edit, you were 5 years old, so no)

the buzz was tremendous!

as for NWA!!lolz

Was you about when preasly hit the scene. Probably not, or quite young. But you still no about him and his influence.

A buzz, maybe. Katy perry is very popular and has certainly created a buzz with the teens. Has she changed the face of music? No. Has it affected what people wear? No. Same with oasis.

As for NWA, lol all you want, but if you know anything about music then you'll know they deserve there place in the music hakk of fame! And before you ask, I'm not just saying this because I'm a fan.

I think Ianho has a point Badbadger. I;m 34 and a massive music fan and seen many famous bands come and go, artcic monkeys made a big splash, U2 Chili Peppers etc but I don;t remember a band in the UK having as much of an influence on a "time " as ChrisBassist correctly pointed out than them.

If you were a teenager or in 20s around 94-96 they were huge and everyone remembers how Oasis and Blur took over the news with the race for no 1.

I'm not having a pop just trying to expand on whats been said and the buzz is certainly more than Katie Perry or any otehrs for years. Not because Oasis are any better but just because there effect on the UK was massive for a couple of years!

They were good times for music

put it this way.. there's over a hundred artists I would rather listen to than Oasis. I don't mind them, but theyre very low down on my music list!

I'm not saying they didn't create a buzz. But saying they themselves or an album they did was ahead of there time is really pushing it.

Ok maybe katy perry was a bad example. Look at miley cyrus/hannah montana (lol). Films, albums, books, merchandise and tv shows! Massive buzz. Not ahead of her time.

Edit: also seen rhcp... 4 TIMES :p love em. And I was going to comment on a post that had you tattoo up. A rhcp tat yeah?

my tattoo?
I;m a major RHCP fan, my favourite band and have been since I saw em at 16 in Liverpool 1991,

we'll have to give up on the OASIS one there music wasn;t ahead of its time infact it looked back but without being patronising you really had to be there!! ha ha It was craze that swept the nation

funny enough if you read anthony keidis book scar tissue he says that there was a period of time where Oasis were biggest thing in USA however they never get credited with that. I;ve never lived in States so couldn;t comment on that
