Hi BigC, good to hear from you, things seem to be running pretty good at the moment mate, the only thing i do have some concerns about is green hair algea, i only have a couple of small patches of the stuff at the moment but the small amount i do have is very thick, so i am keeping a very close eye on it. I was thinking of getting a yellow tang to nip it in the bud, as i know they love to eat that sort of thing. Does anyone know of any reason i should not get one, bareing in mind that i already have a regal tang and a foxface which has a tang like appearence.

Thanks
VM

I'd stay away from a yellow tang if you've got a foxface. They rarely get along. Consider a Kole tang or other tang from that genus.

Hey VM - my starry blenny eats green hair algae. Admittedly it's not all that fast, but it does eat it! :D

Hi all

Ski your advice about the yellow tang came a little late, i had already picked one up before i read your post, i think i may have got lucky again tho, the tang and the foxface have been together for a week now and seem to be fine with each other. I must admit i was worried when i first put the tang in as both fish seemed to be sizing each other up for the first few hours and at times, showing some very aggressive behaviour but i think the tank might just be big enough for them to have thier own space when they want it, i think my 100gl tank would be the very minimum to keep these fish together, i certainly would not risk keeping them in anything smaller anyway.

The yellow Tang is a lovely fish, its bright yellow colour and its active swimming patterns have made the the tank look far better stocked then it was before, i have no regrets about adding one, well not yet anyway.

I have never looked into getting a emerald crab, i lost faith in crabs when i added hermits to my tank and never seen any of them again, thanks for the suggestion anyway, fiSh.

Jenny, it is funny you should mention a Blenny, that will proberly be my next fish :good:

Thanks

Yeah, that's a big thing with marine fish. Even if they're not relatives in genus or species, the foxface and yellow tang are similar in shape, color, and body type. Fights often ensue when you introduce two fish so similar regardless of heritage. Glad your situation worked out :)

Hi Victor, not sure where you live but if you are close to Trod and I she has an emerald crab you could either borrow or have. It certainly polished off all her algae :good:

Seffie x

:fish:

PS - time for some more photos :good:

Hi all

Thanks Trod, thats really good of you to offer the crab but i think i live to far away, i am in the south west, but thanks anyway mate :good:

Why are you wanting to give it away? is there somthing that i do not know

Seffieuk, i will try to get some new pics up for you later but to be honest the tanks not looking at its best at the moment so don't expect to much  The foxface and the yellow tang now seem to be the best of friends and are hardly ever apart so maybe i could get a decent shot of them.

Thanks
VM

Hi all

Jenny i will be getting a blenny at some stage, is it possible to have both of the fish you mentioned or do they do better on thier own?

ok i have taken some new pics, but as always i can never get them small enough so i will have to post them one at a time. Here is the first of them.

The algea war is on again folks and at the moment this is my frontline, they are doing thier best for me and grazing all day long but its difficult to tell if they are making any real progress.

Thanks
