His back aint that sloped on the pic he is in mid swim and is getting the well known spoon head. Take a closer look at the other 2 pics to compaire, he is defo a fine specimin think i ll get camera out take some different shots ov him.....i have tried him on frozen and pellets and he just eats the live food which we are finding easier to handle now (thank god) but will keep tryin to persude him to nipple on some other kinds ov food... Mary :*

Quite the sloped back its got.

Try to get it to accept shrimp and squid and pellets, then youwon't have to deal with the mealworms and crickets so much (except for treats)

He does look great though. How many times a day do you have to feed him? Do you ever have to put your arms in the tank?

Thought i would post another pic just to show another angle...on this one it shows his back aint as sloped as it looks in a previous pic...its my photography it *PANTS* lol

Jardini's have a higher back than Asians by design which gives them the sloped back appearance that would be undesirable in Asians.

Thanks for post CFC and the advice you have given me for suitable tank mate for my Aro and also making it clear that a bad appearance in one certain type don't mean its a bad sign in another eg diffence between Jardini pearls and Asians.....very helpful ! Mary :D

Just finished that last post and sat here and could hear a banging noise......thought it was baby awake till Jay walked half way up the stairs to realised the noise was comin from downstairs. Walking into the dining room and theres the Arowana banging on top ov tank trying to get to an escaped black field cricket which had climbed out thinking it was free and now is snug in Aro's stomach..now thats amazed me totally....."oh no we ve got a burglar ! Nah its just the Aro wanting fed :p "hahahahaha it just gets better and better ! :kana:

i saw a small aro today in an lfs, must have been about 9-10 inches maybe less, reddish fins i think. it was very very skittish. are they normally like this?
looked in perfect condition and was in a massive tank

A beautiful fish Mary ! Spoke to a guy in wharf the other day and he was telling me about your arowana and how well its doing and also how ofen you and your hubby go in spending as much as is needed to ensure this fish very well looked after good on you both. Reading your post you say your getting a new tank is this also from wharf? :D TAZY

what size tank is it? also expensive I bet? tanks mates?

It's probably badly stress from getting to the Ifs never mind lots of people about .......with mine it settled very well when we got it home so guess its just the "situation" the fish is in making it very skittish, hopefully it will be bought really soon and settled in a nice quiet enviroment ..... Mary :)
