Definately getting a new filter, can anybody tell me if the aquaEL 500 UV internal filter is worth a go? Its only £22 and im on a budget!

I looked at one of these though slightly bigger. I was advised and I think rightly so by a lot of the members here to go down the line of a tetra tec external filter. An tetra tec ex600 would easily do the job for you. The UV is not necessary in most fresh water systems that we would have and I was advised by more knowledgable here than me that its one of the current gimicks.
I also bought a hydor external heater to further clean up the look of the inside of the tank, which is an amazing bit of kit.
