New Salty: My 29

The cyano is spreading but not getting too much better, small clumps are forming everywhere. I got phosphate remover(GFO) in my HOB and hours are shortened to 8-10 hour for 3 days and nothing is happening. The sand flies everywhere when I point a power head at it and the hermits don't appreciate that, also none of my CUC seems interested in it :(. Any ideas to kill it??? Also I have clumps of algae on my glass and it is purple, pink, red, orange, yellow and brown and it is like piling up. I will take pics of it but is it coraline or cyano???

Btw :shifty: what do you think of a dwarf seahorse tank in the future

No light and cover with black plastic for 48 hours....

I have read this in a few places and it tends to do the trick. I have a small amount that is suffering in my tank because of the powerheads. I also take a toothbrush to it and suck it out with a siphon.

Thanks I will do both... should I do toothbrush first or after no light???

Sorry for not posting, been focused on my tank
Ok...... BIG update now..... woooo!

So...... I still have cyano and it was dying off until I went on vacation then my dad overfed and my mom left lights on for 12hrs a day for 8 days.... it's dying back down after 2- 1 hour days and minimal feeding :). I have picked up a six polyp bluish, yellowish, green zoa and polyps where open til' my "cyano control days", which ended today with the arrival of my CUC from ReefCleaners, since then I have also purchased a YWG and he is beautiful but timid and has his hole in an impractical viewing spot but can still get a view when he's out, but back to the CUC. Before I got dry rock from RC and it is great quality and very porus. I waited a while and diatoms appeared as expected so I ordered my amazing CUC. I was thinking about a cuke but got a brittle star as my main detritus eater along with 2 big nassarius and 10-15 small ones. The star is supposed to only get to 6in total diameter :) not fish-eating, woooo! He is out as we speak :good: . Now on to my list. As most people know, John is very genorous with the quantity of product you order so here we go..... Ordered 10 dwarf ceriths got 30-40 (but they're very small so it makes up for it :) ), ordered 7 nassarius got 10-15, ordered 11 nerites got about 12-13, ordered 1 fuzzy chiton got 1 fuzzy chiton, ordered 6 hermits, got 10, ordered 13 Florida Ceriths got 13 suprisingly , ordered 7 empty hermit shells got 20, ordered 4 limpets got 4, 1 brittle star and one extra non-CUC member a porcelain crab. So my tank will be clean for a while :good:

Pics tommorrow if I remember

Ok... my dad wants me to get a fish that will swim around the whole tank unlike a clown or goby. I was thinking a coral beauty or fire angel... any ideas???

I do not want a wrasse of any sort now any other possibilities that are peaceful to a YWG

Cherub angel. I have one. Awesome fish. Unaggressive, they are very unlikely to eat corals, mine hasent picked at a single one. And they are beautiful too! Deep purple blue with a yellow head. Dont forget the size. Only 2.5 inches adlt size.

Edit! They love to eat Xenia, thats the only coral you cant keep them with.

Too late!!!!! But great idea, just got a flame angel.... a BEAUTY!!!! :hyper:  :good:

Pics once done acclimating...

I think you're going way too fast. Slow down. No need to add an angelfish when you only just got your CUC.

Pics!!! I will be getting my lights then slowing down and only getting a few corals for the next 1-2 months.

For my stocking list I was thinking jawfish, percula, firefish, 6 line, mandairn??? What would be best???

As for the mandarin- my lfs(not big brand store) said after 6-12 months when my pod population is high a mandarin would do fine in my tank but I don't want to kill such a beautiful creature :) I would by pod packs to replenish the population and try to get it to eat frozen and freeze-dried food. What do you guys think???

And that's all for now!!!
Will hopefully be getting the light Tyler has!!!

You might slow down there cowboy. A flame angel should go into an established reef. I think your CUC is quite LARGE for your tank, and you are going to need to supplement with small bits of algae or greens to give them something to eat. Your rock contains NOTHING of value at this time (except your first two small Live Rocks) so the CUC is going to starve to death if you don't feed it somehow.

Just my two cents.

I will be sure to pick up some algae wafers at the store. What brand is best???I will have kale, romaine, and other greens in there for the angel, will the cuc also eat that??? My glass has more than enough algea for the nerites and ceriths but all the other rocks but the one with the chiton and crab have a layer of diatoms. My detritus eater are getting enough to eat :shifty: . If I get wafers how many times a week should they be fed???
