My New Seashell 60X18X24 Wdh

Must remember to set an alarm or something when i fill the tank back up while doing a water change.....kinda flooded the house while i sat on the computer playing battlefield 3. Oops...Was a good excuse to pull the tank out, tidy up the wires for the lighting and paint the back gloss black :D

Hehe, i should not laugth but i understand how time flies when on BF3.

ive raised the bubble count up to about 5 a sec, i still cant achieve a nice lime colour, im not even sure its necessary as its not high tech lighting. as long as its stable is should be enough even if it stays green?

I agree if the plants are looking healthy and your DC is green you should be good. Mine gets to lime but not a very light lime but my plants seem happy so i leave it at that.

What is DC ??

I did eventually get rid of the Kribs a few weeks ago, added a Betta into the mix which is known as the wifes fish.

The Sag has been slowly dying off as i was told to expect but i have lots of new leaves popping up here and there so its looking good so far!

The back now has two coats of gloss black paint on it, so thats that little job done and dusted. The colours of the fish do stand out quite a bit more, which is nice. Will get some pics later. wraa.

I'm a newer member and just read through all 10 pages of this thread over my morning coffee. Fun to watch the progression!

How do your Bolivians interact for the most part - are they pairing off or do they just hang about together?
I also love kuhli loaches... how are they getting on now that the kribs are gone? Do they hide or do they swim around? I've found them to be active, cute little things in the past, but I always read about them being shy. That just wasn't my experience and I wonder how much the environment affects their behavior - I'd think that in a planted & scaped tank like yours they'd be more active. That, and possibly the water parameters? Mine is soft and slightly acidic and maybe that suits them. But those are just theories, who knows. :)

Looking forward to updated pics. Bettas aren't my favorite, but that's sure a purty one. ;)

Cheers :D Im not quite sure how it got this long

The Bolivians are fine, out of the 4 origionals i have one pair, but it seems my newest adult male is trying his best to dominate the other male and steal his mate, but nothing really comes of it. They were displaying really strongly the other night and head butting one another but nothing really came of it either. The 4th female is a bit of a wheelchair case, i dont think she gets whats going on and doesnt really care. The two younger ones just tend to chill out. Im not sure if the dark one is long for this world, but its still eating and behaving normally.

The Kuhlis are very active, often there is one swimming up and down the tank and even going up to the surface. Certainly not shy like the clowns, who only come out later at night, just before lights out at 10pm. Even with 10 of them in there, they scatter for cover if i move while sat near the tank, or walk past it. They soon come out again though. I am pondering upping the number of clowns as the tank will mature around them and they will be the reason for me getting an 8 footer sometime in the future.

See, I'm thinking more and more that it's just that they prefer a more heavily scaped/planted tank. My kuhlis used to swim up and down all the time, too. They'd also take naps draped over plant leaves. I had a couple of them that would come up and eat bloodworms out of my fingers. I guess from that experience I became a kuhli fan. :D

Is your water slightly acidic by chance?

No not really, 7.2 is average PH, rarely alters. I think its all about providing cover for them, you could try floating plants instead of a heavily planted bottom, will give lots of shade from the lighting.

Yes, I love floating plants - they are supposed to make quite a few fish species happy. Right now I have brazilian pennywort and it looks lovely.

Now, where are our photos? ;)

Thanks!

Added a Red Tailed Black Shark yesterday :D Have to see what happens, hes only diddy, about 2 inches. :D

Not much to report on the tank, not many changes recently, will do some pics in the new year.

Woot, had a result today, the guy checking all our Fire Extinguishers gave me four Co2 ones for nothing. :D Chucked him a tenner for a few beers. :D Should keep me going for a year or two :D

Where's the new pics? Anyone would think you had just had a baby or something...

:D

Yeah, been a busy month :D

About the best i can get without my SLR, always got a flat battery when i go to use it!

Need some more background plants on the left, other than that, im just trimming the sag as it dies off, lots of runners and new leaves popping up all over the place though so happy with the 50 plants i got from last trading post.
