My New Marine Tank Log.

Then you are doomed to a life of second-rate fishkeeping and will never join the ranks of the elite refractometer club (£10 subscription fee but you do get a T-shirt) :hyper: You can get one at your LFS tomorrow. Try returning the hydrometer telling them its unused and want to get a refractometer instead. They may exchange it. Alternatively, you can get one off eBay that are pretty decent. Go for the ones with the ATC feature.

Hydrometers are about as accurate as my grandma with a shotgun at 500m.

Ive ripped the hydrometer packaging open, they wont let me return it, it cost me £15:99, how much are refrac.

a refractometer is better and mroe accurate, but a hydrometer will still work, you don't need to throw it out or anything, we still use one.

just need to put it on your list of things to upgrade at some point. :good:

Well, it looks like im getting a refractometer now . . . my friend just launched it a the wall with her arm by accident, and it shattered.

Don't let her sit near the tank... in case her arm launches that too

She's accident prone, we bought a sheet of perspex to make a new cover for the tank to reduce evaporation, the "accedently" snapped the wrong piece of and ruined like 4 hour or work -.-

now this, my LPS said they sell 2, 14:99 and 13:99 seems a bit cheap, i hope they dont mean a hydrometer.

Bit slow there Joe.
Ya should have said, That just cost me £29. (New Refractometer) :good:

Can buy cheaper Unbranded Refractometers off FleaBay.

Isit ok to just add the salt to the aquarium instead of mixing in a container?
Ill have 2 power heads running in there, and i hung an extneral air pump in there to help

I will be doing that initally but with no livestock present, once you add your livestock you will have to do your mixing in a different recepticle I am going to use a 100ltr rainwater butt with tap on a stand. It will have a heater inserted and a powerhead and also an airstone.
Regards
BigC

Yeah thats ok then, ill buy a big container at a later date. thanks.

Also, being a second hand tank it has marks on the front, which kind of ruin it, they looks like marks were alge had previously been and i just cant seem to get rid of them! any help on how to?
they just look like circular moist marks!

my second hand tank has a few scratches on it, but ive learnt to ignore it :p once you have stuff in the tank to look at u get distracted away from the scrathces !
i no this dosent help get rid of them though .... maybe alot of elbow grease. :dunno:

There not Scratches just look like little moist spots that wont rub off! like the mark The suction pads that hold power heads in place etc, just a hell of alot smaller and they wont go :(
