My New Marine Tank Log.

Ok salt levels are good.
The temperature i cant seem to keep constant, the ideal Temp is 25.5C but it hover between 26 and 26.7 :( is this too hot?
What media should i have in my filter?
and how long does it take for the water to go clear, it looks kinda misty.

bump

26C is the lowest its hitting, which is 78.8F it does stray between 26C - 26.8C but doesent hit 27C, will this be ok??

The temperature within the tank will fluctuate quite widely throughout the day, particularly in the summer months, when controlling the temperature is much more difficult than in the winter months. Hot weather combined with the heat from lights, pumps, filters will most likely push your water temperature above that of the heater thermostat.

At the moment, mine is at 30c/82f. At night this usually drops down to around about 26c. So long as the water doesn't go above about 85f for a prolonged period, I wouldn't worry too much.

You can assist your aquarium in its cooling by closing curtains to stop sunlight, opening doors and windows to provide good airflow and opening any canopy/hood to help facilitate evapouration. Switching lights off for a while or moving them further away from the water surface will also help.

At the moment you have nothing to worry about, especially as you don't have anything living in the tank :p

Ive taken the cover for evaporation off, ive tried elevating the main lid, ive took the opening of the main lid off, and im getting 26.3. so thats really the lowest it will go :(

will buying a small clip on fan help?

Also will it always be this murkey, it looks like soapy water!

yeh pointing at the surface it should do!

i thought about getting one when mine kept hitting high 26's but its been so cold here lately and windy mines been at 24.5 at times. so much for nice hot summer weather!

It will take a while but the water will settle and become crystal clear. Tanks do fluctuate in temperature, smaller ones more rapidly than bigger ones for obvious reasons. So long as you are within certain parameters there is nothing to worry about at all. The thermostat in the water heater will cause the heater to kick in if the temperature gets too low. All you need to do is keep an eye on the temperature on hot days and maybe point a fan at the water surface to aid evapouration, which will cool the tank off greatly.

Yep ive aimed my fan at it, the temp differs between 25.5 and 25.6 :)

is it too soon to buy live rock? my temperatures ok now, salinity is 1022.
What media should i put in my flu val 303, it has 2 layers of like stone things, that ok?
and i read andwg said once ive got live rock in and the levels are 0 i can add fish within houres? not that i will because i cant afford them atm, but i was thinking of adding some CUC soon?

Yup get your LR. Allow it to cycle. Keep checking your levels. As soon as the Ammonia and Nitrite are at 0 and the nitrates are about 20ppm, then add your CUC.

Whats the Salt level max and min?
my specific gravity is measuring at 1025 :S

Is there any Heaters that will automatically keep the tank at the correct tempt, heat when too cool and go down when too hot, because atm im not even needing my heater on as my rooms so hot, but then it'll change to having to be on really high :(

Unless we have a heat wave then there is nothing to worry about Joe. The heaters automatically kick in when the temperature drops below the level that the thermostat is set at. You can spend a shed load of money and purchase a chiller if you so desire, which will kick in if the temperature gets too hot. Personally, I'd save yourself fortune and purchase an air conditioning unit. This will keep the room pleasantly cool in very hot weather and also serve to cool the tank off if necessary.

As I said early, it is normal for the temperature of the aquarium to fluctuate throughout the day. Nights will be cooler than the day for obvious reasons. Your tank will not get too cold because of the thermostat heater, unless it breaks. So long as the temperatures don't rise to over 85f for a prolonged period of time, you have absolutely nothing at all to worry about. Mine will drop to 76f at night and be as high as 83 during the day if its hot outside.

But if i set my Heater at 25C wich is 78F it heats to about 26.7C and doesent go lower.
Now ive unplugged it its at 25C :S
and i have to have the fan on it constantly, ill buy some surface fans i think :(
