My Marine Journal

which i had then you misslead me by saying put the goby in first then the clown so i thought this would be fine. obviously not

but it is still wrong advice and you mislead me into believeing this was ok. i dont see what i have done wrong

Everybody told you originally that you needed 20g for a pair of clowns, you did ignore this and were told it may be possible but would need to be really vigilant on water quality. You then decide you want a goby, and start another thread about water changes and another about CUC and another about Xenia. People don't always link all of these together if they are answering in a rush. I did purely because I am house bound at the moment and have nothing better to do than sit here all day looking on this forum and another forum where I am a Moderator.

Truck has been trying to point you in the right direction to make the most of the mistakes you seem adamant on making. Nobody wants to have a go at you, people just want you to slow down and plan and read before you leap into a fire and end up scalding yourself.

Your best bet is to have a read through the various pinned topics and the journals, most that start at the beginning will take you through the steps of cycling, adding CUC then adding your first fishes. Have a good read then come back with some specific questions and make a plan, then stick to it. In the mean time your rock will be cycling and you can get the test kits you are missing.

Also start a journal and keep everything in one place, your questions will be answered and people can refer back easily to what you have already done. This makes yours and everyone elses life easier.

because i am right. if you was just starting out a marine tank having forgoten alot about it. you get a interpet 50 search net about clownfish and it says its ok and then an experienced fish keeper like yourself says to you put your goby in then the clown you would presume it would be ok. i am not ignoring anyones advice. lets drop the subject now anyway.
if you can see on them pictures i am starting to get diatoms on my LR ammonia is still 0. that xenia is coming out now after thriving for about a week. tomorrow i will get my nitrate test and if they have any phosphate tests. i will check them and if all is ok i will do a water change then 12 hours later if readings are ok get my CUC in would 3 turbos be ok and 1 hermit.

no but you said you would have a clown because the internet said its okay, then you said you wanted a goby too, i saw this as wrong, i told you but no, so i then told you in what order to add them to avoid aggression. end of mater. saves clogging up a thread

i have just said it is end of matter then i asked a question

dont buy any old phosphate test kit, buy the D+D one, it will cost you £30 but its the best most accurate on the market!

CUC:

i would start with:
3 red legged hermits (not blue)
2 turbos
2 ceriths
6 nassurias snails
1 shrimp (providing your not getting a clown)

ok i will check what my local fish store have got in. they definatly always have turbos hermits and shrimps but i have never seen nassurias snails in there or ceriths.

Nassarius and Ceriths

If you message the seeler above she will supply with smaller amounts, this is where I got a couple of ceriths and 5 nassarius from. I intend to get more at a later date aswell, these snails are truly marvellous at detritus removal and zap around the tank and you can see their telescopes sticking up from the sand.

I agree with this 100%.

then stick to it.
But plans do change and, once in awhile, are beyond our control. I've probably changed my stocking for my 29g at least 4 or 5 times and who knows when it comes time to stock it, BlackMolly you may change your mind on what you really want. If you do change your mind, just make sure the size of the fish is suitable for the tank long term.

Yes obviously things are beyond our control, all I meant was to stick with the general plan for setting up and ask about choices such as fish.

I think the confusion has occured because you have started lots of differant threads, May I recommend you Change the title of this thread, to make it your journal, then any questions you have ask on this thread only, that way people will know exactly what is going on, they will know the tank you are running.

We all learn new things each day and we have all made mistakes.

Read, listen and learn then make your decision. We may not all agree but we all want the same thing, a lovely piece of the ocean in our homes :good:
