My Complete Roma 125 Journal.

JOURNAL POST
I've just tested my water parameters to make sure they're perfect for when I get some new stock later today and they go as follows:
Ammonia - 0ppm
Nitrite - 0ppm
Nitrate - ~15ppm
pH - ~7.6
Temp - 26°C

So by the looks of things, I'm set to go! :hyper:

Depending on what they have in stock at the garden centre, I'm looking to get ~8 Cardinal or Neon Tetras, ~7 Rummy Nose Tetras and I really want a pair of Powder Blue Dwarf Gouramis but there's not really much chance of them having some in stock so probably a pair of Dwarfs or Honeys. Then I'm going to leave it at that for a while and possibly get some rams :)

As for plants, I think I'm going to get some Jungle Vallis and some Myriophyllum Scabratun for the back along with some EasyCarbo but I' a little undecided at the minute.

I'll post some photos of the new guys later on so WATCH THIS SPACE! ;)

Careful adding that many fish to your tank at once, you're going to get a big ammonia spike :/

Your tank is currently cycled for the 4 (?) fish that you have in there now, the filter will not be prepared for a huge jump in stock.

Hmm, well the way I've been thinking is that the tetras won't make much waste. And when I say around 8, it just depends on what they have on offer. They usually have something like 6 for however much but we will have to see. I will bear any possible spikes in mind while I'm there :)

JOURNAL POST

So yesterday was an eventful day... I set out to the garden centre with fish in mind that I might stock, and after looking at what they had I decided to get 6 more Cardinal Tetras and 2 Honey Gouramis. So I asked the woman for 6 Cardinal Tetras, which she managed to bag up and identify correctly and 2 Honey Gouramis. I looked away for a second and looked back to see she was at the Gold Gourami tank, trying to net 2 of those so I told her, "No, I want Honey Gourami's, they're on the other side of the room." So, as I should have guessed myself - she went to the other side of the room TO ANOTHER GOLD GOURAMI TANK. So I told her again, "No, they're too big. I don't want those." Now I know I should have pointed out to her they were actually Gold Gouramis seeing as all she did was bag me up some smaller Golds, but for some reason I didn't. I should also have not given in and bought them, but I did... for some reason.

Anyway, the Golds and the Cardinals are now in the tank and after about 19 hours I've tested for ammonia and there is thankfully no spike at the moment. If I've sexed the golds correctly, I believe they are both males and one of them certainly seems to be more 'dominant' as the other has a little rip in his fin - nothing to worry about though from what I've seen and from watching them for 15 minutes or so this morning they're getting on okay.

They haven't seemed to bother the other fish and the Cardinals seem to have joined the one lonely one I had and my Rummy Noses so they're going good too.

I know 2 Gouramis in a 125L tank isn't ideal but I plan to get rid of them if they become too big or too much...

Oh, I've also bought 10 Malaysian Trumpet Snails off eBay but I'm still debating over getting new plants :)

Would you say I do, or are more plants required?

Hmmm, trying to think how I could fit another piece of wood in without it looking obscure. The only other thing I can think of is some tall plants for the back right area...

Slow internet reposted, silly thing

Those tall Val's would look great on the back left, covering the filter and heater. And the right area with that log left really open as if its a beach area and then ur java with logs is the transition into a wooded area (Val area). Just a thought. I always love an area that is open. But it would work with Val's along back wall anywhere.

JOURNAL POST

The two golds are having a bit of banter but they're getting on okay overall so things are still looking good. I also ordered some water wisteria, some Seachem Prime and some Hikari algae wafers for the Bristlenose earlier off good old eBay, so they should be here some time next week - my Malaysian Trumpet Snails should be arriving too. Oh, and I'll be going to Pets at Home tomorrow for some bloodworm even though I told myself I was going today... I'll get round to it soon enough though, bearing in mind I have to go to town on Monday for college! :-(

Anyway, seeing as this journal seems to be getting a bit boring I thought it would be a nice time for some photos of the not so new any more guys and company :)

Kicking off with the oldest guy of the tank, "the big one" who isn't fussed by anyone whatsoever

The more dominant of the two Gold Gouramis wondered what I was doing, so he got his photo taken

As I said though, the two have been getting well okay overall

And last but not least, a little Rummy Nosed Tetra!
