My 7 Day Vegetarian Journey- With Pics!

Good luck to you I have been "Demi-Vegetarian" for 16 years!!!! What is a demi-vegetarian you may ask? I do not eat chicken, beef, pork, lamb, game, etc, etc, but I do eat fish and seafood. A bit arse about face as I keep fish as a hobby. :p

Each to their own, I love cooking meat and the smell of it, but I do not like the way that the animals are slaughtered. I am the only veggie in my family. Hubby and the kids are free to make their own choices.

p.s. some of the Quorn stuff in yummy! Linda McCartney Sausage Rolls are even better

p.p.s. Humans are Omnivores and not Carnivores!

Because you don't have to go catch it yourself with teeth 'n' claws, do you? It comes ready prepared....

So what..what difference does that make, whether or not I went out and caught my food with my bare hands? I went out and worked my ass off to make the money to buy it with didn't I? Same thing IMO, just a different way of obtaining it.

I highly doubt all vegans/veggies grow their own produce...do they? I bet 90% of them go buy it at the same type stores I do my ground beef...so in essences...it's ready prepared.

Omnivorism
The key category in the discussion of human diet is omnivores, which are defined as generalized feeders, with neither carnivore nor herbivore specializations for acquiring or processing food, and who are capable of consuming and do consume both animal protein and vegetation. They are basically *opportunistic* feeders (survive by eating what is available) with more generalized anatomical and physiological traits, especially the dentition (teeth). All the available evidence indicates that the natural human diet is omnivorous and would include meat. We are not, however, required to consume animal protein. We have a choice.
And it's up to each of us to choose which it is we want..and no one should be made to feel bad for whatever choice they prefer.

they are boiled alive. Sounds fun right? Either way you're eating abused/tortured chicken.

Thats blatantly not true, I worked next door to a KFC for over 2 years and saw their chicken being delivered RAW, by the way from the same supplier that Morrisons supermarket (who I also once worked for) had theirs from. FACT ;)

I am not a vegan or vegitarian, nor will I ever be and what's more I do eat KFC and I will continue to do so. What I will not do is try to convince you to eat a bacon butty or a nice medium rare steak. Nor will I wield blatant lies to try to make you feel bad about what you eat.

Good luck to anyone that is veggie, to each their own.

KFC yummmmmy

I think I know what they're talking about chicken wise. There's this thing called broiler chickens - they're basically battery chickens, they get a mild electric shock to stun them, get their throats cut to bleed them and then once they're dead get dunked quickly in boiling water cos it makes it easier to remove the feathers.

Not saying I like the sound of that, but KFC is still yummy!
:)

I wouldn't be able to do that. We were designed to eat meat, over the thousands of years which we have evolved, or how God created us (whichever you believe), we were designed to eat meat, and we weren't meant to become vegetarians.

I think it's the other way around. I beleive humans began as plant and vegtable matter consumers and then evolved into meat eaters. Evidence is in the appendix which is a vestigal organ which stored partially digested food in the days when humans were not eating nutrient rich foods. The stored food would then be defecated and then reingested. Once humans began hunting, there was no need for the appendix and it became vestigal. Just my take on that matter, i'm no expert.

I myself am a meat-eater. Nothing satisfies me more than a nice juicy medium-rare steak, followed by Buffalo wings as my 2nd fave food and Swordfish as my 3rd.

Hey for all you who think chickens arent broiled, and their heads are completely severed, feel free to check out the link in my signature. Watch the Pamela Anderson video, and then be surprised to see that what I was saying is true.

Keep up the good work :D

although this is kinda funny:

actually Arf, the carcasses are immersed in hot water and then swift-cooled in order to (a) remove feathers, etc. and (B) kill off bacteria. i know this because my Thermodynamics proffessor was originally in industry and liked to make us kids work problems based on actual industry concerns. (thus, i've also worked physics problems concerning frozen bull semen  )

however, i can vouch that the chickens are not intentionally "boiled alive".

--EDIT--

tu-whoop! looks like Ami beat me to the punch! however, if you'd like confirmation on the process from an unbiased source, just google "poultry processing plant" and look around at the various technical guidelines.

What's with all the veggie/meat look alikes though? If you are gonna not eat meat...why eat meat flavored things or things that look like meat..isn't that rather hypocritical?

I really don't get that either.

Mushroom burgers and things, fine, they're not pretending they're anything else. But the whole 'sausage' thing - I don't get it.

Just because veggies dont eat meat doesnt mean they dont like the taste of it. By eating things that act like meat/taste like it, they get the almost same taste but without sacrificing an animal for it.
