Minnnt's South American Puffer Tank

No, for my livebearer community. I am debating on adding some silk plants to my cichlid tanks. Silicone them to the rock!

The Puffers think it is their birthday. :D They have been upgraded to my 3ft, 180 litre tank. They look a little lost in there, but hopefully they will grow a little quicker now they have a little more space. Still in with the 2 Otocinclus who they pay no attention to what so ever, so may be tempted to up their numbers to 5-6 and maybe add another Puffer or 2 when i find them available from somewhere that is cheaper than my LFS.

The tank is very much a work in progress, but i hope it is going in the right direction. Got rid of the moss on the branch that was in the tank (Vicenza Revisited) and turned it upside down. Also added another rooty bit of wood. May try and get another piece either tomorrow or later on in the week to try and do something with it. Needing some kind of background plant that isn't Vallis as i have that in a few of my other tanks so want it to be a little different. Any thoughts? Must be something that doesn't require co2 as i am not dosing any, although i am adding comprehensive ferts due to lack of fish and T5HO's.

Anyway, snapped a couple of quick pics that look a bit dodgey tbh, but you get the idea. :)

Comments and advice welcome as always. :good:

Thankyou. :) It's not perfect, but it's getting there. Not fussed about Cabomba any more, so may try the Balansae. Was considering the Sag earlier on... May just try a bit and see how it gets on.

Thankyou.

I'm subscribed to this post because I think your pictures are great and i' loving the evolution of the tank, keep doing an awesome job :)

Thanks.

Cupcakes, i have a few pics of them further up the thread i believe but no recent ones. Will get some once they have settled into their new surroundings.

Kat, thanks. Means alot. Their old tank looked better, but this tank is twice the volume and a little longer also. They're really surfing the current now. 1 is still shy though and stays towards the back, the smallest one is the most adventurous and comes to greet you as soon as he see's any movement in the room.

As for my pics, i think they're pants personally.

NIce restart mate, turning the branch upside down works well.
Ever tried Limnophila sessiliflora, dead easy & grows real quick.

Cheers mate, a restart it certainly is.

Been considering Limnophila lately as an alternative to Cabomba. Will have to see if i can find some from somewhere. Also hoping for Balansae at some point. Needs more wood too i think to make for a more interesting tank for the Puffers. Just need to find the right piece(s) for the right place(s).

Why not start a thread in 'Wanted' for the Limnop.Anyone who has it, is bound to be trimming it regular.Mine has really taken off.Would offer you some but i've got a large internal to block out.Depends on how patient you are.

I have some trimmings of Limnophila from this morning - about a dozen stems 10-15cm long - if you're interested? Oh, and three stems of Hygrophila polysperma Rosanervig that I can chuck in as well if you want them. :)

Love this tank by the way...nearly forgot to say that  :D
