Minnnt's South American Puffer Tank

NO NO NO NO NO NO! Don't listen to these people and ruin this tank with neons. I love all of you guys. Keep the puffers, they are FAR more interesting. Neons are overdone and boring, just my opinion.

Tank is sweeeeet!

LOL LLJ, I love how passionate you are, hehehe... Do you hate ALL neons or just the normal ones ? I saw some green neons in a tank the other day and they were quite stunning. Of course, I think minnnt should keep the puffers too

It's not that I hate neons. I just think they are overused in scapes, like java fern is. I'd actually prefer green neons, if these are the ones that lack the red, that is. It's the red that puts me off. Don't get me wrong. I love serpaes, also a bright red when well-colored, but something about the neon color combinations puts me off in planted tanks. It detracts from the scape sometimes. Especially when they are put in a tank that is too small for them.

I got my opinions. :) That's for sure.

Glowlights would probably be a better choice than Neons. I have these in my 180 tank and they're very beautiful indeed. They add to the scape rather than detract from it... imo of course! :D

While we are on the brief interlude of fish choice, and not wishing to detract from minnnt's thread, so I only need one or two answers to this question, or it needs to be split from this one, but was there a big hoo haa about genetically modified danios in the UK a few years back ? Someone brought them in to New Zealand when I was over there and MAF (their equivalent to DEFRA) was on it like a ton of bricks. Suddenly they were banned, and selling for about £30 each !!! I think they tracked them ALL down though :)

Just to point out... I have Glowlight Tetra's, not Glowlight Danio's. :D

To answer your question... I have no idea! :D :D :D

Did it hurt?

No because I wasn't the daft muppet who imported them into the country (nor did I buy any of the damned things, LOL). I just recall the hoo haa. It was like a witch hunt. People were contacting anyone on Trade Me (The NZ version of ebay) to ask if they had bought them. Some so that they could report you to MAF for having illegal fish and some because they were prepared to pay silly money just to get hold of them. Haha. It was a weird situation for a while.

Update time again... Getting rather good at this :D More moss carpet added, Vallis appears to have grown a little too. :good: Crypts are growing good as always! :D

Hope you enjoy the new pics! :D
