Managing Games

1 FC Nurnberg v Borussia Dortmund Pre-Match Conference

Q: Andrew following the fantastic result against Middlesbrough, surley your team will be looking to win again?
A: Yes we will, however Nurnberg are unbeaten in 5 games and out of them 5 games have won 3. This season we havent won 3 league games in a row, so we will be looking to do this but it will be difficult.

Q: The Media are building it up as the Battle of Germans, how do you feel about this?
A: Look the media are always doing things like this so it dosent really matter, i dont think Nurnberg will pay attention to the media, we wont i know that. All that matters is the end result after 90 minutes.

Q: Youve been here nearly a month now are you settling down to life in Germany?
A: Yes i am very happy living here in Germany.

Q: Your defence will after look out for Angelos Charisteas, Nurnbergs top goal scorer?
A: Yes they will Angelos has scored 11 goal in 16 games, however the Nurnberg defence will have to deal with our main striker Matias Vouso, hes scored 5 goals in 7 games. So we can hope to see some goals.

Q: Estudiantes next after FC Nurnberg, can you win that game also?
A: Im here to answer questions related to the game aginst Nurnberg not Estudiantes.

Q: Its reported that the club looking at Sebastien Frey, another keeper. Any news on this or any other players?
A: No there is no news on this, and no new transfers as yet this week, maybe we can do some by the end of the week.

Q: Your prediction for the game?
A: A 1-0 win for us, maybe 2-1.

Aston Villa vs SPARTAK MOSKVA Pre-Match Conference

Q: Tonight you face Aston Villa who are fighting for promotion what can we expect?
A: Well we are on quite a roll atm picking up 10 points out of 12 in our last 4 games. I expect at lest a point or else the boys will be doing extra laps in training!!

Q: You suffered a defeat to Dortmund in the TFF Cup any words you would like to say?
A: Yes we did get beat But where still in there with a chance of winning it also I will try my hardest to finish above Dortmund in the league

Q: This week saw you sign a couple of defenders did you see this as a week-spot?
A: Yes and no I believe I had a decent defence but no place is safe in my team. If I can see a player that can improve my team I will try my hardest to get him. As you know I had quite the clear out with 14 players sold to others clubs to free up wages and transfer money.

Q: How are Jan KROMKAMP and Jose FERNANDO MEIRA settling in and can we expect to see them both on the pitch tonight?
A: Yes you already seen Fernando in the TFF cup and what a player is his am so glad I seen off Spurs in the transfer battle for him. Both will be starting tonight. Hopefully we can stop leaking in goals

*****Transfer Updates from TOULOUSE, in sunny France*****

Activity behind the scenes in recent weeks has reulted in a few Ins and Outs as we head towards the final stage of the season.

After recently securing the services of Russian defender Dennis KOLODIN, Toulouse have boosted there defensive area with 89 rated Goalkeeper Jerieome JANOT in an exchange deal with R.RIOU heading the other way.

>But it is the major coup of Attacking winger Stephane SESSEGNON, whom can play on both flanks, which has really excited the staff and fans alike.
The 89 rated Beninese International player joins in a 11.7Million deal from Le Mans and he should make his debut in tonights match as he is already very adjusted to life in France.

It is also emerging that the improvement of the youth set-up is a top priority and the signings of teenagers Tamas KADAR, Reis Wellington and Gary MADINE for less than 1Mill. in total is part of a long-term investment plan to improve the future development of the club.

The Sale of N.TAIDER for 3.4Mill. will off-set part of this spending and it is expected that players such as P.CESAR, D.Congre and Striker MIDO will be open to any offers.

Bugger got beat :D was expecting that tbh But lost two of my first team and important players :/

A few interesting results at the top of the table going to be a good finish to the end of the season

Wow I managed a 1-1 draw against the Champions Elect :D

Bad news is I've done some maths... There are only 6 games left and I'm 19 points behind Feyenoord now so I can't win the league any more

Dinamo Zagreb 1 - 1 Feyenoord

Attendance: 26,723
Scorers: Feyenoord - A Zinha (55) Dinamo - A Young (60)

Manager Dan Walmsley described this game as 'One of the biggest games remaining this season' and he was proved right as a 1-1 draw turned out to be enough to ensure they remain top of the table again following a 55 minute strike from Zinha which was cancelled out by former Feyenoord target A Young.

Post-Match Conference

Dan, a point in this tough game away from home. You still sit top with toulouse left and 6 games remaining...?

Yes, i'm delighted with this point as it is no secret that Dinamo are one of the new prospects this season and will be one the favourites pushing for promotion next season. We knew before the game that a draw would be enough to ensure we stayed top of the table which is vital in our bid for the championship. We did play for the win of course as every game we play for the win but in the end we will settle for a very important point. We are now 7 points clear of 4th which is a big confidence booster with so little time remaining. Toulouse next at home and it is very important that we win this game because we face villa away and then america at home as both of those sides are 2 of the 8 teams looking for the top 3 spots.

Dan results elsewhere have opened the top of the tabe right up and there are 7 teams fighting for 3 spots what is your opinion on this?

Yes Middlesborough had a fantastic result at home to city which was unexpected and then sampdoria lost, vila win and so on. So you have Us, America, Sampdoria, Boro, City, napoli and villla fighting for division 3 football. Of course ourselves and America will be favourites to go up considering the slight advantage in points we have but anything can happen. America have some tough games to come and we are one of them. Sampdoria also have 2 tough games left especially the next one against Spartak.

Fillipo Mancini signed this morning another youngster, any 1st team players joining soon?

No, as i've said we are done regarding first-team players this season as we do not have the resources to fund such activity but i can assure the fans that i have compiled a large shortlist of players and it grows daily as i keep in touch with my scouts. Next season will be almost as active as this season has been, players that have joined us this season can be assured that even their future is not secure here if they do no meet my expectations. Thank you

1 FC Nurnberg -2 Borussia Dortmund Post-Match Conference

Q: It taken its time but as finally come 3 league wins on the trot, how do you feel?
A: Yes its taken a very long time, but not the team are playing some of the best football in the league.

Q: You warned Nurnberg before the game about Matias Vouso, it seemed like they had him under control?
A: Yes they defended well, you carnt mark Matias for only 83 minutes and not expect him to score given the chance and thats exactly what happened. 6 goal in 8 games its a fantastic goal ratio.

Q: Although the scores says it was a little one sided, it was far from in reality?
A: Yes it was a very close game, Nurnberg piped us with possesion, and both shots at goal and on target. Nurnberg will be disappointed that they didnt get a point, but that football, it happened to us for the first three games that i took charge in.

Q: It broke in the news just after kick-off that Carlos Cuellar is linked with a mmove to Dortmund. is this true?
A: Well we are not the only club linked with Carlos, Toulouse are also after him. We have placed our bid on the table, which Villa have accepted so now we have to wait for Carlos. This as been going on for some time now, It was a bit like the Beckham Saga, One minute hes coming the next hes not.

(A club official walks in with a short statement)

O: I am deeply sorry to interturpt this Post-Match Confernce with Andrew Watson, manager of Borussia Dortmund. The club can now officially confirm that Carlos Cuellar has signed a 5 year contract with the club. The transfer included a price of £14 million pounds and Paulo Tinga going the other way. The transfer will be confirmed and completed by FIFA officials in the morrning. So i can confirm that Carlos Cuellar will join Borussia Dortmund.

BREAKING NEWS: CARLOS CUELLAR JOINS BORUSSIA DORTMUND FOR £14 MILLION + PAULO TINGA

A: Well there you go, Carlos is our next signing.

Q: Will new signing Carlos Cuellar go straight into the squad to face Estudiantes?
A: I will first asses his fitness, and then i will make my final decision on Thursday.

Q: Your prediction for the game against Estudiantes?
A: I would say that following there 1-0 win against Toulouse that they will feel that they can cause an upset, but i still believe that we can win. So a 3-1 win for Dortmund, Thank you very much, see you later.

Dinner For 2 In Lisbon?

Press reports emerging from The portuguese Captial are alleging that Dan walmsley met up with pinta da costa, the FC Porto president about the vacant managerial role at the club following the depature of former manager Alan Sturrock. The two dined at Alvaro's, the finest venue in Lisbon last night following Feyenoords 1 - 1 draw with dinamo. There has been no official approach to Feyenoord from Porto and the Porto president denied any talk regarding the englishmen taking over the reins.

He said 'Myself and Dan have been friends for a while back now since i went over to see Feyenoord play against L A Galaxy which was the game before he officially took over there. Of course he has done a fantastic job as his team are unbeaten in 16 games, I wouldn't mind linking up with him here at Porto but that remains to be decided by the Feyenoord Board whether or not they will allow him to go..'

So Porto have made an equiry to Dan walmsley then?

No, No of course not that would be illegal without his clubs consent. It was just a chat about football and so on, there is very little chance that he will be manager here - this season anyway.

Meanwhile Dan walmsley spoke positivley about a meeting with the Feyenoord Chairman and Chief Executive regarding next seasons targets. It's believed the manager has drawn up his short-list and has spoke to the board about his main targets off that list. After the interview dan had to say...

Yes, The meeting went very well regarding activity off the football pitch. I know we are still in the most important stages of the season now and these discussions will not affect the way we peform on the field. It's important that we stay 1 step ahead of our rivals at all times to maximise our chance of success which is why i felt it necessary to get my prioriteies across to the board so they now have 4 weeks to come to a decision on what i can do next season. I've got quality in my team but i'm looking to have quality cover and my long-term aim for the club is to have 2 players in every position. I will need a suad of approximately 25 players and then about 11 youth team players to bud slowly into the 1st team..

Dan made no comments about a possible switch to Porto

TFF Cup Tourno. Pre-Match Team news....... TOULOUSE Vs. S.Moskow

Toulouse manager RossyT held a brief meeting with the written Press this afternoon, regarding the TFF cup match with the Russians.

It was revealed that a few tactical changes will be made following a few bad results recently. New signing J.JANOT will debutise in goal and he hopes to keep the Green jersey for the League clash with Feyenoord. N.DIEUZE will play as a holding midfielder, with EMANA moving to the right hand side. Wonderkid DosSANTOS gets a start in the 'hole' behind B.GOMIS and A.KONE, whom returns from a 3-match suspension.

>It is likely that all three Subs will be used, with S.Sessegnon, F-S PONGOLLE and MIDO all itching for some action.

The TFF Cup is the only possibility of silverwear/success this season and the fans are hoped to turn out in good numbers for tonights game. (K.O; 8.p.m.-box office open until Kick-off)

Borussia Dortmund v Estudiantes in the TFF Cup Pre-Match Conference

Q: Andrew following the recent run of victories you must be going for another tonight?
A: Yes, i will expect another victory against Estudiantes.

Q: Following the arrival of Carlos Cuellar, will he be starting?
A: Yes Carlos will partner Johan in the centre of defence for us.

Q: Estudiantes are 18th in the league but won there last game, so will it be an easy game or a hard game tonight?
A: Well i am sure Estudiantes believe that they can win tonight and will be going for the win, in there first game they played well against Feyenoord. Yes they lost 2-0 but Feyenoord are league leaders, so against a team sitting 3 points above them in the league, course it will be a physical game, they will be tough to beat, but i think that we can win.

Q: Is there any one player who may stand out for Estudiantes?
A: I dont think they have that star player yet, they are collective, they work as a team for each other. Yes they lack the top class players that other team have in this league but they work together well.

Q: Whos your main threat?
A: Matias Vouso, need i say more. Pires, Ledesma, Fernando.

Q: So finally your prediction?
A: Like i said the other day, following there 1-0 win against Toulouse that they will feel that they can cause an upset, but i still believe that we can win. So i would say a 3-1 win for Dortmund, Thank you very much, see you later

Feyenoord Vs Toulouse Pre-Match Conference

Dan, you were held to another 1-1 draw with Dinamo last night in the TFF cup, any thoughts?

Yes, we played the better football and i thought we deserved the win although Torrado had to pull one back for us later on in the game. A point is okay though as with our game in hand we can go joint top with dortmund so overall i am happy.

Toulouse at home today followed by 2 massive matches against Villa and America...?

Yes it is very important we beat toulouse today to keep ourselves in a good position for these final games. I predict a loss for both America and Sampdoria against Dortmund and Spartak so we must capitalize on this as many will feel villa will be too strong for us next week away from home. I've been here for 6 home league games now and my record is won 5 drawn 1 so i want to make 6-1 tonight!

Any important team news?

Well tactic wise you'll just have to wait and see 8pm tonight the only news i will disclose to you is that Real Madrid last night accepted an ambitious loan bid for Russian 91-rated CF M Pantelic and he will be straight into the starting line-up tonight and i look forward to partnering an out and out striker with M Borriello who boasts a record of 9 goal in 12 games himself.

Finally Dan, anymore twists in the championship race tonight?

Well hopefully not on our behalf but i do expect a large number of the top 7 to drop points tonight. I predict America and Sampdoria to lose. Villa, Boro and City to all draw their games also so we must win our game.

'Attack is best form of Defence' ....TOULOUSE Vs. Feyenoord Preview.

Toulouse manager RossyT today revealed an adventurous plan in an attempt to make high-flyers Feyenoord think about defending aswell as attacking.

It is believed a three-pronged attack of B.GOMIS, A.KONE and F-S PONGOLLE will be deployed from the Kick-off in an aim to gain an early advantage in this tough clash.

>Partly due to injuries and suspensions, Mr.T has strongly hinted on the 4-3-3 formation with S.Sessegnon, A.EMANA and F.MANSARE providing the energy and creativity in Midfield, along with an unchanged defence from the clean-sheet in TFF Cup game, with new Goalkeeper J.JANOT making his league debut.

It is against the odds for Toulouse to take the points tonight, but it seems they will be having a real go at it no matter what....!

(Note; Tonight's game is a complete sell-out, although Channel.7 will be broadcasting live from 7.45p.m)
