So far i think they've done a pretty rubbish job of the opening ceremony. Not a twinkle in the eye of the Beijing Ceremony
MBOU, you're not missing anything worthwhile
I'm sorry, which ceremony were you watching? Possibly your problem is that you think we should have been trying to outdo the Chinese at their own game. That's clearly not going to happen, so Danny Boyle has done something different. I don't remember any comedy (a la Mr Bean) at Beijing. I certainly don't remember the Chinese President getting involved in the way Queenie Liz has.
Open ceremony I think is disappointing, the rings were good, the rest is Dull, unless it bucks up.......its a let down........sorry...
At the risk of repeating myself

Paul McCartney's set last night was sublime, what a night!
Funnily enough, that was the one bit that I thought was disappointing. Macca's voice has ssssoooooo not aged well - it was cracking up all over the place. And as for having to have a backing track.......
Overall, I thought it was blumin brilliant, and the lighting of the cauldron by the young pretenders was so in-keeping with the theme of Inspiring A Generation, and so unexpected.
One last thing, I am reliably informed by a cyberbuddy of mine on thepompeychimes.net that the helicopter fly-through of Tower Bridge was not CGI-ed, it was real - it was his helicopter! Neither Queenie nor Daniel Craig were on board at the time, though.
