So far i think they've done a pretty rubbish job of the opening ceremony. Not a twinkle in the eye of the Beijing Ceremony

Why oh why do i have to sleep in a room just off the lounge? By the sounds of it.... after 2.5 hours... they've just remembered the olympics is the reason they are there lol.

Apparently reptile keepers are much more cynical! Following similar thread on a reptile forum and 90% of em are bored, dissapointed or just plain embarrassed!

I doubt anyone could have touched the Bejing Ceremony. For one thing, what other country has so many "volunteers" that could be so well "trained" to perform Perfectly?

Most of the people I talk with here seem to all be in England, but we're all so busy talking about our tanks and fish I never heard anyone mention a single thing about the Olympics.

I was just curious as to how life has changed for everyone there now that you're in the world spotlight for the next couple of months???

I think it says a lot about the news broadcasters in your part of the US that you think it's strange for us to be in the world spotlight!!!!


BTW, why do you Americans call your thing football, when primarily you use yourhands, not your feet? Just curious!

I guess I could have worded the Poll Question better...I'm more curious as to how life is with the world being IN London, and not as much about the world watching London.

For the football question...We were to lazy to change the name. Par for the course for how the world typically views us. American Football has its roots in Football, and then rugby. We changed all the rules, but never got around to changing the name.

Also, I am married to a Peruvian. I was converted, and call soccer football as well...wouldn't dare call it soccer anymore unless I wanted to start an argument which I would most certainly lose.

The 'thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk' music has now been non stop for nearly an hour and a half and its driving me mad. I xswear im going to hurt someone if it doesnt just stop!! Its actually making me tremble its winding me up so much!! I know i have odd hearing but this is driving me up the wall! I cant wait for it to be over! Thank god its a one off in my lifetime occurance.

I'm actually quite enjoying the ceramony. A pretty good show so far imo. The story it told was really well thought out.
