Large Empty Tank And Thinking Of Oscars.....

i have added the new texas but only 1 for now and got a 6 inch jack dempsy thrown in with the deal :hyper:

Duce is now in a 180 to try and calm him down a bit and ill keep an eye on the gold sev to see if he becomes the bully again.....

this tank was hard to choose the stocking for as you all know but its harder trying to keep the peace

ill get pics of the texas abd JD tomorrow :good:

i now have another bully.....

yes you guessed it its the new texas

constantly chasing the JD, rottie and diadema! but leaves the gold sev alone

the JD is scared to death of the texas even though they have just come from the same tank...

here is my plan.

introdude Duce back into the big tank and remove the rottie and JD and put them in the 180. if the texas' keep themselves to themselves then it might be ok  the sev wont be chasing the rottie but might get a bit from Duce (texas), the sev doesnt bother the others so that solves that. hopefully! the diadema is chased by the new texas but stands up to Duce but if the texas' again keep each other company then that might solve that problem. Keith (oscar) isnt bothered by any of the fish so he is fine.

so tomorrow ill try again and this will be my cichlid stocking...

1 x oscar
2 x texas
1 x diadema
1 x gold sev

i still have the option of another texas thats a similar size to the other 2 if this doesnt work out :S fingers crossed

here is the new bully

sorry about the poor pics but the fish wont keep still

well my plan of getting 2 jaguar catfish to bring each other out has failed  so if anyone else wants a jag cat then i will sell one :good:

also the JD has now been removed and is in with Duce. Duce (texas) will be put back in the big tank later on today. hopefully he will behave and enjoy his new texas mate

Sounds like a few woo's you having, what might be a idea, is remove all the aggressors, then rearrange the wood etc, leaving the peaceful fishies in there, bag the aggressors and float then for atleast a half hour, this could work giving the others a chance to establish.

cheers nelly that will be plan B :good:

looks like plan B might be needed as the tank is total madness after adding the 2nd texas  it seems that texas cichlids do live up to their reputation, or the 2 i have do anyway....!
such a shame as they are gorgeous  if they dont fit in i am left with 2 great fish that need new homes.

i have now put the 2 texas up for sale so as soon as these are gone it will become peacefull again all being well  well more peacefull anyway....

i am now tempted to add a pair of wild oscars from tony on the forum who currently is selling all his oscars.

i will keep the diadema and rottie and obviously Keith and possibly the 2 wild oscars from tony, maybe  :S

ive also sold 1 of the jag cats as my plan of getting 2 to bring them out into the open didnt work so i didnt see the point in keeping both  shame as they are stunning cats.

hopefully collecting them next weekend all being well :)

I wouldnt add 2 other oscars, seriously a big no way! I had Tinker, Tailor and Tigger in the same tank the other week for only a couple of hours and I didnt dare move from the tank so I could keep them under control. The only way you will get oscars to live together is if they have been brought up together from little ones. I cant even get Chops & Rusty in the same tank and they are 6&7".

Other note: I am in discussion with Hubby about Duce, I have moved Bailey tonight see how the tank settles now she (definately a she from the breeding tube  ) is no longer making the boys hormones rise. I will pm you tomorrow :good:

No having more than 1 oscar in a tank is a big no no! You need to grow out oscars together. You should get a flagtail prochildoulis or silverdollars.

the 2 oscars have been living together for a while now without issues along with other oscars so they are ok it just depends on Keith.....

boys will be boys especially when theres a lady in the house  sure let me know star about Duce as i really do need a home asap
