Keiths New Tank Journal

I think i like it better tbh mate, what about hanging some plants pretty much where your standing in the tank? lol.

i tried to give Keith another oscar friend today. stupid or brave as it was it didnt work.... Keith just wont accept another big fish so he will remain alone from now on except for his small barb mates.

within 5 minutes the new oscar which was a decent 8 inches or more got battered and i couldnt watch any more so its now been rehomed again in a mates tank.

the rainbows and tetras have gone into the ornatum tank minnnt and have settled in very well. they will be getting a bigger tank in 2 weeks time :hyper:

Such a shame Matt, i must admit i was very suprised when you said you had left with another Oscar.

Has Keith got the other Rainbows in with him or is he alone cichlid wise?

he has the 2 rainbows i bought a while ago but apart from these he is cichlidless.

the 2 i had from you are now in with the ornatums and have coloured up very well. when their new tank arrives i will add the other 2 rainbows in with the ornatums and leave it at that i think.

I reckon the other hunchback from wharf would be a better option as it is of a similar size. ;) ;)

The 'pair' in the first bit were fighting like mad when i went  And i REALLY REALLY like the paler grey one. Any reason for this colour?

the hunchback is still much smaller than Keith, he really has to be seen to be believed..... and stop trying to temp me as my minds now made up, i think

the colouration is just how they are some are beautifull and some are dull. thats just how it is. they do change colour with mood, keith goes pale grey and almost white when angry (like earlier today) and dark black when excited. in a normal relaxed mood he looks like he is in my sig.

Would love to see him someday matt, can't believe he is bigger than that one, was there any there that was if a similar size?

well if your ever passing through leicester way then give me a shout and ill introduce you to him :good:

i dont think there were any that were of Keiths size. the humpback is similar in height but not as chunky or long as Keith. the one a bought today i thought wasnt too far off Keiths size but he dwarfed him for their brief encounter

Just a quick question that i forgot to ask you today, did his colouration alter when you swapped from the play sand to the limpopo? Thinking of trying to get mine sorted this week whilst i'm off and wondering about the substrate.

no the substrate didnt alter Keiths colouration , although it may well do with other fish as the darker colour of limpopo wont reflect the light back up at the fish so much as lighter coloured sand like play sand.
