Keiths New Tank Journal

Its ok mate, know what you mean, i was never good at taking pics with my new camera on my big tank, strange as it was supposed to be a better camera than my previous one, which took top notch pics..

Tank looks great Matt! Keith is stunning as ever :)

Keith has now recovered from all of the damage he got while i was trying to catch him to swap tank :hyper:

thanks for the kind comments guys :good:

i got a nd aquatics tank and never modified the hood, i just didnt use the u shaped things that feed the pipe and just pushed it through the holes in through the little square gap in the corner. was a little tricky but got there.

The eheim filter i have on the other hand i had to chop a section of the hood to fit it over as eheim need the u shape part.

Couple of things i should of done with mine;
1- got a sump, glass drilled etc
2- not bothered with glass sliders as its not toughned glass ! i broke both of mine since ive had them, got toughned glass cut to size from my local glass place and theyve not cracked yet.

im so tempted to go for a group of about 5 rainbow cichlids....

do you think my tank will be big enough for them as well?

60x18x24

1 x oscar
7 x arulius barbs
1 x BGK
3 x humbug catfish
1 x jaguar catfish
1 x stripped headstander

i would lose the headstander to get the rainbows in and when my other tank arrives later in the year i will be moving either the jaguar catfish or the humbugs into it so the stocking wont be too much in time....

i seem to be an Arulius barb missing........

ive searched the tank and cant find a body or any remains and there is no way a fish can jump out of the tank so maybe Keith has caught up with one

ive never seen him to be bothered by them and they even eat the bits he drops when feeding but there is nothing else in the tank thats capable of eating let alone catching a barb........

these barbs are very fast and have plenty of places to escape if they feel threatened so ive no idea how Keith would have caught one!

all the other barbs seem their normal self and there is no signs of any disease or anything unusual.

ill have to keep an eye on the tank to see if Keith has developed a taste for live food all of a sudden

Glad you found the missing barb

I'd go with the Rainbows as IMO the tank looks pretty empty at the moment. The other fish would liven it up a bit.

I was tempted to get a Rainbow when I went to MA Cambs, but didn't as couldn't 100% remember if they were peaceful or not. Wish I'd got one now

just got back from Nottingham with a pair of breeding rainbow cichlids. they are really vivid orange and look awesome :hyper:

although they have not come out from hiding yet

ill try and get some pics as soon as i see them

Good on ya mate, looking forward to seeing pics of them! :D

Going back to the humbugs, i don't think you would ever see them Matt, mine hibernated and that was it! Recently rehomed him due to this fact and to get rid of some of the poo machines from my tank. lol.

I really want an Oscar, but i don't think i would ever be able to house one fairly so all i can do is drool over yours.

here is a very poor pic of them as they are still settling in so it was taken from distance....

my other 2 large humbugs were really active. they get more adventurous with age as my others use to feed from the surface pinching the cichlids food in my old tank

well once again Keith is having the final word in his tank mate selection.....

for some reason he isnt happy with the new arrivals and is stressing them out a bit so they will have to be moved in with the ornatums at the weekend if nothing changes.

as he doesnt seem to mind the barbs i think i will up the numbers of these and leave the tank at that. i just hope they still have some left

if i have done this correctly below should be a video of Keiths new tank and his mates. it wont be the best and please ignore the tv reflection and light reflection
