Keiths New Tank Journal

Wait until he is feeding ON your hand... 3 fingered Matt...
 hopefully it wont be too soon as i cant fit another tank in the house or afford one

i have however been tempted to have a complete fish swap round and put Keith, Frank and the megaladoras in the 5x2x2 and the ornatums in the 5x18x2. but to be honest i cant be arsed right now..... maybe when Franks a bit bigger :hey:

I must admit i did wonder why you hadn't done that when you had the chance with the other one being empty.

I know how you feel, i can't be bothered to try and catch 3 platties out of my 180, so i bet you really CBA!! lol!

Frank seems to have filled out a bit since eating lots of prawns and mussles but something (i think its the barbs) keeps nipping at his fins and they look quite bad at the minute but nothing that wont heal in time.

even at this size he can fit half of a frozen food block down in one  those barbs better not get too close..... :grr:

while doing a water change today i managed to get a couple of pics of the arulius barbs. they are so hard to get on camera but when i do a water change they all group up so here they are a bit colourless due to the water change taking place but its the best i can get im affraid......

been doing a bit of gardening today and pulled up a few earth worms. i thought i would treat Frank to them as all he really eats are prawns.......

ive never seen a fish go for food the way he did, it was unbelievable..... :hyper: i guess i know what to give him as a treat from now on.

i seem to be missing a barb....

ive had a quick look in the tank and gone through the fake plants etc but cant find it... i can only see 6

the last time i thought i had lost one it has stuck between the filter intake and the glass but its not there either!

could Frank (TSN X RTC) at 6-7 inch eat a 4.5 inch barb?

Frank didnt eat for 2 days so its got me wondering now if it was him...... its very unusual for the barbs to not be in a group dashing about, which the 6 i can see are currently doing.

its water change day tomorrow so ill have a good look for it if it doesnt turn up

if it has been eaten its either Frank or Keith as nothing else is capable. Keith has never seriously gone for anything in this tank he just leaves them alone as they are too fast.

Frank however is not much bigger than the barbs. i know his mouth is as wide as his head which is pretty wide but it would be a mission to swallow one of these barbs. he does however take prawns whole but they are nothing like the size of a barb. its just the fact that he didnt eat for 2 days when he is normally very keen to feed

i have just returned from the lfs with some frozen lance fish to see if Frank could consume one of these. they are quite a bit smaller than the barbs in both length and width and within 2 minutes he has taken 2 lance fish and they went straight down without too many problems......

ive still not done the water change today so ive not had a good look in the tank for the missing barb but its still not out with the others yet

the barb is defo not in the tank anymore  ive had all the rocks, plants and caves out and there is nothing there except the humbugs and Frank :grr:

after seeing Frank take the lance fish the way he did im putting it down to him especially after he didnt eat for 2 days, he must have been digesting an expensive arulius barb

time for a fish/tank swap around i think.....

 oops. Look forward to seeing the tank swap around. What's your plan? Mix the fish up or just do a straight swap?

i think im gonna put Keith, Frank, megaladoras cat, BGK and the striped headstander in the 5x2x2 and everything else in the other tank. i might have to sell the barbs on if the other tank is too full

better than them getting eaten i guess........
