Its Alive

Umm, I'd avoid actinodiscuss species mushrooms in any tank with acropora. Try to stick to ricordea or maybe rhodactus. Actinodiscuss breed too quickly and rapidly and float around the aquarium when they do. They can land next to an SPS colony and burn it to death really quickly. I'd also avoid Goniopora, as their captive survival rates (especially when smaller) are exceptionally pooor. Nobody knows why but they just wilt and die even in some of the best tanks with the best keepers...

sweet looking tank! it's always nice to get the MH lighting so you can keep more corals. but i agree with 1entra more color thru zoas and i like florida rics

I too like the Monti Cap. whereabouts is the best placement for such a coral in respects to water flow and lighting.
Again lovely tank, another to gleen inspiration from.

i got a milli that is starting to bleach, never really took off in growth (actually came to a complete stop about a month ago) and PE was never as good as it used to. Its probably gonna die soon, on the other hand, i have an encrusting monti that i got pretty brown and its become a lighter, more "shiny" orange color, its growing, and PE is good for a monti. Both of these sps are considered pretty hardy, but you never know, your tank may be suitable for one, but not the other.

The reason for my post is just to recommend you to start with frags, dont use whole colonies. Find out which ones are better suited for your tank.

Thanks a ton Musho it was a birthday present for me. So my father said "Its for your birthday I dont want to get you a frag!" As for the Monti the higher they are to the light the better off they are and a mid flow rate maybe even high flow depending on how big a piece you get.

Got an even newer coral.
