How Many Young People Are There Who Have Interest Of Tropical Fish

I am 11 and have started keeping fish about a month ago when I got my betta fish Kenni. I had lovbed fish all the time but was clueless about them. I only knew that we had to keep them in a bowl with water. A couple of months ago my mom got me one of those betta tank/vase with plant. I had no idea this was wrong, so we put water in placed the betta in, and put in some food. It died the next morning. When I got my second betta, I got a starter tank with flakes ( I switched to pellets), water conditioner, the tank, and gravel and a plant. We bought my darling Kenni, and I followed the instructions on the back of the box. I also did a lot of research. A couple of weeks later I got a gift of another betta and starter tank. Named the betta Alex and now they both live happily. I have convinced my parents into buying me a 55gallon next time we go to Wal-Mart, and I will do some more research because I'm clueless about aquariums, cycling, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, Ph levels, ect.

i would defintly be more into fish keeping, but my mom doesn't like fish, so im limited to very small tanks.

Right now all i have is a 10 gallon, and im wanting to shoot myself right now for not fishless cycling. All the work i have been doing to keep these fish alive i got is really a pain.

I looked up sizes of tanks, and a 29 gallon tank would fit perfectly atop my dresser. I'm waiting on a $106 refund from my cell phone, and i think that i might buy a 29 gallon tank, and set it up and all. I'll have to see what happens though.

I personally have taken care of fish, since probably 12. I use to have the old classic beta-fish-in-a-vase.

I am 16 I will be 17 in February I needed a new hobby and found fish keeping cool and now I am addicted..... Victoria isn't the best for Aquariums though but I do my best :p

I got my first tank when I was 15. It was two gallons and I kept three guppies in it, which quickly multiplied, and died. I did have a lot of deaths and did not realize there was any such thing as cycling. I was on forums at the time but it wasn't common knowledge. I got my first 10 gallon tank for my 16th birthday, and kept a community of tetras and small barbs, and progressed from there until I had 5 tanks in my bedroom! During college the number dwindled because I was busy and not living where I could keep fish (mom helped feed and I did water changes when I visited home, but no new fish). My last fish from highschool died last summer at my parents house, and I started my tanks back up a couple of months later here in my own home--about a year ago. I'm 25 now, almost 26, so I've been keeping fish for 10 years (with a little break). I have found my interests have changed over the years, interested in different types of fish and plants, but I am not sure if it is because I have more information and more species available to me or if my opinions have actually changed.

I'm 23. I like to think that fishkeeping is a healthy hobby for people of any age! I hope it's not just a phase! I hope to have fish for a long time coming!

im 18 and have been keeping fish for 3 or 4 years and have learned alot from my fisrt 5 gallon goldfish tank to now my 5 tanks including that original which now hold my betta and my 75 gal beauty... i plan on retiring wish fish so i hape its not a phase and would even like to get into the building of tanks, ive built the cabinets but want to try building a tank itself

I started fishkeeping at the age of 7. I am now 11 going on 12. When I started at the age of 7 I had a 10 gallon tank with some neons, tetras and some zebra danios(not all of those fish at the same time). i hade that tank for a couple years and loved it. One day my dad came home with a brand new 20 gallon tank that I moved my tropical fish to. A couple months ago I got a 55 gallon tank that I now have all chichlids in. This weekend I have somebody coming to buy the 20 gallon so that I can save up to buy another 55 gallon to breed electric yellows. My 10 gallon tank will be used for when the female is readt to spit out the fry. I am also now a member of the Tropical Fish society of Rhode Island and of course this forum. I guess you could say I really got into the hobby when I was 11 years old. I would say that I really grew in fish keeping and of course knowledge.
