Honduran Red Points Cichlids Breeding - Free Swimming Fry :)

Thanks, I'm well chuffed with that one, pic of the week I think...I've been going a little crazy with the camera the last few days :)

I did try to get some macro shots of the fry but when they are that small and moving all the time I can get a single clear crisp shot...best I could get was this:

Lend me you camera so I can take some of the baby sevs  I tried with my friends camera absolutely useless.

When I get some Juvi's from you I'll make sure I post a few nice pics as they grow

If you were around the corner I'd be more than happy to come around and take some pics for you.....a 300 mile round trip is a bit much though

Good photos always are a bit of luck and good timing.

Thanks, yeah I was really lucky there...I think that's my luck finished with for at least another week :)

Got another video uploaded with Mum doing her thing, I can't help myself this is all very new to me :)

Hope you like it...

I am getting a little concerned that she'll remove all the sand from one side of that rock and it will fall

I might need to intervene soon...

:D would love a few of these when they are bigger, if you can send that is :p

love the picture, good video too :good:

What filter do you use in that tank btw?
Thanks, it's the standard filter that comes with the Roma 125, the Fluval U3...works fine for this sort of fish load :)

Yeah, I'll be sending if it works out economical but only once the fish are atleast 1.5" I think...I have no idea on prices or shipping/courier methods etc. I guess I have a couple of months to figure all that out...I would obviously prefer collection or somewhere local to deliver to but it's early days so I have no real clue right now.

They're £5 a pop where I bought them so I know that even if I wanted to I couldn't make any money on selling and posting through the forums, it would all be taken up on postage alone I guess...I just need to figure out how much the bits and pieces are for packing and what the best courier for me is...any advice via PM would be great!

This is the first time I have Cichlids spawning so I am new to all this, good job the parents know what they're doing :)

I have a pair of HRPs. Great fish, better looking than cons, but not as aggresive. I have some juvies at .5" to 1.5" (think theres a 2" male some where I keep confusing for adult female O.O) These are great fish. Only had one sucessful brood, I don't want to add on to the 20 I have now in that tank.
A tip is Serpae tetras are a good dither for these guys. I still have all 9 of my shoal from Febuary. and lost all of my Garnet Tetras but 2 I threw into pond, and only one is thriving :( .

BTW, dont worry bout the rock shes burrowing by. It will fall slow on the sand. I have had my rocks shift so much, I'm surprised they make it out with no tore fins.

Thanks for the tips SBL

I am at the point of getting dither fish for my main tank now, I will definitely get Hatchetfish for that tank, it is an almost SA tank.

I may well take up your suggestion on Serpae Tetra (or similar e.g. lemon tetra) for the breeding tank...currently there are no other fish except mum, dad and babies in their tank...they see fine all on their lonesome to be honest though.....

Another vid, sorry for the poor quality, it's kinda hard to get the little fry in shot well enough to see what they're up to properly. You should be able to just make out 2 fry going for it and attacking whole bloodworm (dead already of course), they'll be the ones that cause headaches in anyone's tank they go to I'm sure
