High Nitrates + White Poo

The white poo could be an internal parasite. If the anti-bacterial med doesn't work, I'd treat with an anti-parasitical medicated food.

I wouldn't worry about the nitrates that much though. Like RadaR said, your plants will be loving it. Oh, and BTW, I read in my aquarium keeping magazine that someone had their nitrates at 100ppm, and their fish were perfectly fine. (Though obviously not recommended!)

Good luck! :good:

The nitrates in my older tank were 100+ this morning before i did a water change. All my fish are fine had them all over a year now.

Gill flukes are very unusual, and are commonly mis-diagnosed. I think you might be barking up the wrong tree with that diagnosis... Really, you cannot see flukes, so you need a Microscope with 5000X magnification to see them, and even then it's hard without applying something like Methaline Blue or Malachite Green to dye them and make them more visible... You'd need to apply one or other to the wound to prevent infection anyway after the skin scrape test...

If your test kits have surgested Ammonia is present, I'd start with that. With a low reading, double check the reading to check it is actually present, and if you get two trace readings, have a third test done with a new test kit or a friends/LFS's test kit. Internal parasites can cause inflamed gills and in some instances, flicking as well. I'd probably start with worming them with a wormer that actually works i.e. not Kisuri Wormer Plus. If the fish are now eating, follow the directions I gave with the meds I gave in our PM convo yesterday/day before. If they are not eating, I'd advise you to take a Corpse to a vet to try get some Flubenol. It was the wormer of choice for years until new EU legislation baned it from sale without veterinary prescription. It's still easily available with a prescription, as it's used for worming sheep, cattle e.t.c still, but getting that prescription can be tricky, as few vet deal with fish...

All the best

Hi rabbut,

can i dilute flubenol in the water?

anyway i will go to vet tomorrow and ask him for the medicine.... just like that without corpse as i haven`t got one now :)

Thanks

Yes flubenol goes in the tank water.
I've used flubenol and its a good med.
Not sure on wormer plus as I have never used it.

As wilder says, it's supposed to be used as a bath, same as with Wormer Plus. As with Wormer Plus, you MUST wear rubber gloves, a dust mask and goggles when handling the powder. It can kill you very quickly if you breath enough in, and even a little can cause you health issues down the road... Flubenol will get Flukes at all life cycle stages also, so is a cracking med to use for either parasitic infection...

All the best
