Very nice! Riccia carpet just about ready for a final pic, ay? I'm sorry I couldn't find it in the 19 pages, but which dwarf hairgrass do you have in there? Eleocharis acicularis or parvula?

That's amazing! :hyper:
How come the bottom of the harigrass doesn't rot though? I'm pretty sure light doesn't reach it.

Thanks.

Dasmall - E. acicularis. I doubt parvula would grow as tall.

neontetra - Not sure about lower layers of the riccia TBH. It's not a plant I'd ever use in the long-term, in its submersed form anyway.

voo - Too much maintenance. Future plans, not decided. I'm very busy in the new year so it will take a back seat.

Looking good George.

Have you got a name for your design. Im a great beleiver of giving a design a name, its like giving it a sence of presance, a reason to be, and perpose for growth. After all we get a cat or dog, its not call dog its called Rumpole for example.

Allo

Whats your thoughts ?

Sorry mate. "Journey's End" will do for now, it's appropriate on a few levels.

I like to finish the scape before naming. I did the same with "Old Mother Microsorium" -

Nice finaly shots mate :) that fish really set it off as well, what you going to do with them if you're stopping this tank? Are you glad you had a go at a 'nano'?

Sam

Thanks again for all the feedback. I am pleased with the results so far and also had some nice comments from the likes of Jeff Senke on this nano, that made my day!

Whoops, I misread "riccia" for "hairgrass" in my previous post, my apologies.

The light does reach nearly/all the hairgass. Remember that I have a lot of light over a small surface area in shallow water. Besides, I'm fairly sure a plant doesn't have to have its entire "body" lit to grow successfully.
Looks good George. If you are planning on stripping the tank down in the near future I'd gladly buy some of your E. acicularis from you.
I'll bear that in mind.

Thanks Sam. This isn't the final shot just yet, I have a few more tricks "up my sleeve", whether or not they will work............

I'll run the tank lower-tech and keep the fish in there. I'm tempted by a simple carpet of UG with a different rock layout.

Nanos are fun, hard work (at this spec) but rewarding. I imagine I'll always have one running in one form or another. It brightens up the kitchen for a start. :)

Quick update. I've been away from home for a few days so ran 4 hours photoperiod. All seems well, with no algae and noticeable growth. I'll try to get some more photos soon.

For now -
