Tanks looking lovely, George :) my only comment would be the stark contracts between the 'silver' of the riccia bubbles and the green of the hairgrass? A little to blockie for me, but that's just me :)

Love the new fish additions! A nice find, and very small, am always on the look out for small fish. What are you doing about CO2? I thought you were running it ultra high?

Sam

Thanks Sam. Indeed the intense pearling is creating too much contrast against the hairgrass. I mentioned this on AEF. I note that Amano's later 'scapes have their photos taken with no pearling in the riccia, for the same reasons no doubt.

When the time comes for final photos then they will be taken early on in the photoperiod. The riccia looks great with no pearling, but even better IMO with a little bit of fluorescence, after an hour or so.

CO2 has been reduced to 20-30 bubbles per minute. This gives me around 30ppm CO2 and I'm using a Boyu CO2 dropper test and ref. 4 dKH solution (thanks Al). Riccia still pearls well but not to the same intensity. No surprises there.

So now I just wait until the riccia has formed its solid carpet, then prune the hairgrass and riccia ready for some final photos. If I can keep the layout maintained over the Christmas break then hopefully PFK can visit in the New Year.

Sounds good, cant wait to see the 'final shots' :)

Interesting about the CO2 and the riccia pearling, nice CO2 'guide' there, who was it that always says, 'let the plants tell you whats wrong...'

Well, I just finished reading 18 pages of wonderful wonderful stuffs. Nice work, glad you didn't scrap the tank after the algae breakout!

Wasn't it those Japanese guys, with Justin Law?

I'm trying to master macro. The fish are moving about a fair bit so it's harder than it may look!

Welcome to the world of rasboras! Sometimes, when they school, however, they will strike a pose for about a split second and then begin swimming again. My harlequins and espies did this for me. Good luck with yours! A good effort, I can't say I take any better. :good:

I hear tetras and danios are even worse.

llj :)

Looking good mate,
for the least colourful fish I have ever seen they look good.
compliment the aqua scape well imo

Quick update - I'm off to get a few more Microrasbora nana tomorrow, so I'll have eight or ten in total, then plan the final photo shoot on Boxing Day.

A good effort, I can't say I take any better. :good:
Thanks L.
Nice pic George, this tank is looking excellent. :good:

How are you finding that filter for water circlutaion ?
Thank Al.

The HOB is fine but I wouldn't use on anything larger, even though it's turning over the water well over 10x per hour. The flow characteristics aren't great as the water isn't circulated around the whole tank too well, despite trying every conceivable position. It is easy to tell from the CO2 mist distribution. For £7.99 though it is good value and I'm not getting algae issues.

I'll certainly be tempted by the new nano ADA glassware Aqua Essentials are getting in, output, inlet pipes and CO2 diffuser.

Thanks pal.

You reef guys are certainly used to much more colourful fish and these do generally compliment the corals if the aquascaper "has any idea what he is doing!" ;) It's all a bit gawdy for my taste though - despite your sig.

You know that if I had a 6 footer I'd stock it with a big shoal of chromis. :hey:

See you Boxing Day mate, that air pump is awesome for ripples BTW. ;) Have a good one.

Looking good George.

Have you got a name for your design. Im a great beleiver of giving a design a name, its like giving it a sence of presance, a reason to be, and perpose for growth. After all we get a cat or dog, its not call dog its called Rumpole for example.

Names for dogs eh....I knew someone with a female dog called 'Asker'. I asked her what her name was about 5 times before someone explained things to me ;)
