Gazza Nano Log - Salty Fun

Here is what Big C put:

"I have managed to tease mine out by using a syringe with a length of airline attached and squirting some diluted DT’s Live Marine Phytoplankton over the coral. I placed a frozen cube of krill in a small tub and covered it with tank water then I added 5ml of the above phytoplankton. This juice works wonders to get the thing out to play. I then spot fed the coral in the normal way with newly hatched BBS and frozen Mysis."

Would Marine snow do the same thing? Also what does BBS mean? It mostprobs obvious.

You are right, think you might kick yourself

Baby brine shrimp :p

Er yes I am kicking myself. Thanks.

Live phyto is different to marine snow.

Alot of marine snow can contain phosphates and cause outbreaks of cyano. Use live phyto, safer.

OK once I hav used up the brand new bottle of marine snow I got a week ago I will purhase some phyto. However if the Sun coral has not come out by sat, I will buy some then. :good:

I have just decided that my fish are snobs. I gave them flake food & did not touch any of it. Hoevere if its frozen or granuals they are over it like a rash...

Give New era a try, most of mine like it except the anthias, but then I agree, think they are snobs  even the flake is good from NE though. My lfs gave me some for my fish to sample, they loved it

However I thinik I am losing the battle with the sun coral. Now one of the heads has gew coming out of it. I won't be ordering from that website again... However everything else is good. I am looking forward to my shopoping trip on sat :shout:

You will find the sun coral is expelling its zooxanthellae. This is very normal on placement of a coral into a new tank. It will expel the old ones and take on new ones that are more suitable to your tank conditions.

Perfectly Normal :good:

Get yourself a cut down coke bottle, just after lights out place over the sun coral, then with a syringe/turkey baster place some Brine shrimp/Krill over the heads, leave for a couple of hours ish, do this every night, It will eventually start to come out on its own, probably take a couple of weeks, then it will slowly start to come out whenever it senses food in the tank.
I now only give mine the coke bottle a couple of times a week, to give it a good feed :good:
I would get some DT's phytoplankton IMHO its the best http://www.midlandreefs.co.uk/xcart/produc...at=0&page=1 this is where I get mine.
They also don't like strong light, so should be placed on the sand at bottom of tank :good:

Hope this helps ;)

Brilliant thanks. I will order ASAP.

He is right at the bottom under an over hang :good: I did my research from the book.

As always with marine tanks, Patients...

Thank Daveo time will tell

Interestingly Sun corals were one of the only corals to survive atomic bomb testing in the pacific - so would make sense that they are rather hardy!
