I've seen posts saying that Excel & Vallis don't mix.I have no experience of Excel, only ever used EasyC (i'm lucky my LFS sells it at a reasonable price), i always thought they were basically the same product, though i'm unsure of the concentrations.
My Vallis has shown no signs of melt, and is now throwing out lots of new runners.
No other plants are showing signs of Co2 deficencies, and there's no Crypt melting.
I'm not advocating that everyone should follow this routine, it just happens to be working for me.

I'm pretty sure that's what the instructions are telling me to do - it says you can do every other day but since I wanted rid of the algae...

Tizer had the same eperience as Stu i believe. It thrived with EC but failed with Excel. I have only ever used Excel and the rest of the bottle is still in the cupboard.

Just had a very long day at work, to come home to chaos with the family.
Log on for 5 mins before bed, and it seemed to have all kicked off.

Ok, so it's clear that the FE is a no go. Do you have an idea as to how you'd make the swap to EC and/or reducing the dosage? Do you think I'd be safe to stop dosing for a few days to hopefully reduce the damage that's been done?

Ya know, if I'd properly educate myself on how this all works instead of just using the product you poor people would have a much nicer time!

You've got the making's of a really nice tank.If you stop the carbon, to help out the Vallis, what do you think will happen to all the other plants?

mmm, that's my problem, I know. I just really like the vallis, I'm not willing to let it go just yet. Quite a lot of damage has shown up over the last two days and I know it's going to get worse before it gets better. I just hope it does get better. It was absolutely flourishing in this tank before the carbon that's what's so frustrating!

Tbh, i have no idea, but i know Vallis and excel don't mix. It loves proper co2 though!

I would order some EC and remove the Vallis to a bucket/jug until it arrives. If the Excel is working for everything else then keep dosing it until the new stuff comes after you have removed the Vallis.
