And this was today.... notice the essentials on the left.... a cold coffee and the radio
Lino down...
First layer in place. (no supports)
2nd level, with the centre supports in place
Then the electrics went in...
Lorna lent a hand this afternoon too and the 4ft tank and 3x 2fts have all had their first coat of backing paint... it was cold though so didn't dry in time to get a 2nd coat.
With all this progress, I couldn't end the day without getting a tank in there.... so the freshly painted 2fts got put in there to dry
The stand is drilled and screwed to the walls and constructed from 22mm water resistant floorboard and planed 2" x 1.5" timber. The shelves are 500 deep and nearly 2.4m long (8ft). These will allow me to use different sizes of tank if I want to up size in the future. The 2fts can be replaced as they will all 'stack' above each other to the left of the door leaving me with lots of room for more tanks
I need to work out the plumbing and how I want the tanks setting up now.
The 3 2fts will be sharing an external filter, with it pumping from one end and returning it to the other with the water syphoning between the tanks. I got some foam cubes yesterday that will be going in each of the linked tanks on the end of the syphon pipework to form a small filter to aid the external.
The left of the stand has a 1250 gap - meaning the 1200 tanks (not actually 4ft) will drop in there easily. there is then an 800 from the same range going on the right. at the moment these 2 will be running as separate tanks with internal filters, the stocking is going to be light to start with, and the filtration will be upgraded to a big, shared external, once I find the right bargain on eBay
The 4 ft and the 800 will be in place tomorrow, then I'll get the pipework in place. I need to drill some access holes through the stank to pass pipes through as I intend to setup a quick water change system so i just open a tap and start the syphon going.
I do still need to get water out there...
