First Marine Tank :)

But it was working fine drsquirrel :p Until the epoxy went in, which is why i think it has gone a it nuts. And my water level is actually lower then what it should be acording to their instruction from manufacturer lol. Not sure what i can use to lift it up though, that would give me a more dry skim i guess.

I may leave it off till later on tonight when i get home (in a few hours) and see if its settled down yet.

I will be orderng my RO/DI unit on friday for monday shipment hopefully. The guy that i was giong to buy the rock and corals and snails and macro from decided he no longer wishes to sell, so thats a little annoying. Who wants to bet he wasnt actually busy last night, but having regrets? :p

You should have a control valve, it will control the water exiting hence the water level inside, drop that back as low as possible then start to rise it.

Are you sure you're not confusing the water level inside (which depends) to that of outside?

You can also try raising the pump a bit... because its sucking air down the deeper it goes the more pressure.

Control vlave is all the way down. As it was before. It started overflowing since epoxy. I put it back on a minute ago and it was working ok, still a ton of air bubble but it wasnt overflowing. But would fill up pretty quick. Going to give ita few more hours then put it back on and see what hapens. If not ill try raising it and the other suggestions u have said.

Dont think so... Will take another look at he sheet tonight and see how i go.

Thanks alot drsquirrel :)

Try reducing the amount of air that goes into the pump too.

Cleaned the pump impeller?

Yeah going to peg the airline if it does not work well when i turn it back on till i get time to clean it tomorrow.

I noticed that it releases a ton of bubbles into the water to the point were the sump looks milky in the chamber the sump is in... Im hoping its the epoxy that caused it. It is only a month old... Will try to clean it out tomorrow after uni, have some uni work to get done.

Thanks mate :)

Well you want lots of fine bubbles in the lower chamber, and at first the bubbles up the tube inside the collection cup will be the same, over time (hours to a day) these will get bigger as the "dirty" starts to accumulate and will then get forced over into the collection cup.

This is why I suggest running the level inside lowish until it starts to build up.

I doubt much has gotten into the pump really, well epoxy wise, shouldn't get over the bubble trap really. Maybe time to get a filter sock on

No no sorry i mean i think it must be leaking or something because the actual sump chamber goes milky :S Yes i need to get a filter sock.

Going to check the sump for cracks right now. Will post back how i go

I don't see why the sump would be a problem.

Your pump pulls in air so air isn't being pushed in, though fine air bubbles(/milky water) will be air AFTER the impeller mesh which "cuts" it up.

Maybe air is going out of the intake for some reason, check it and if possible make it point down more than up.

Stop and start it to see where the "milky" comes from, if its coming from the output of the skimmer then the water coming out isn't coming from the bottom of the skimmer (which shouldnt have much air, although too much air might cause this).

I've also noticed on your skimmer the output faces directly up... which im not sure how that would act, im going to test something bike this today (although my output is not submerged).

Well i have fixed the skimmer issue temporarily... Added a air control gauge i had laying around to control the air flow and reduced it a tiny bit which should give me a skm that is a little drier then the past... And have lifted the skimmer up about 4 or 5 inches by placing it in a bottle that has its lid off (thus to be filled up)...

Going to leave it like this for a couple of days and try and get more salt water tomorrow so i can do a water change to help remove watever is in the water causing my skimmer to lose it all of a sudden (I recon its the epoxy..)... Hopefully this will fix the problem.

Skimmer has sort of settled down but if i drop it back to its previous postion overflows, but not as quick. Gonna give it a couple of days of skimming lifted up and seeh ow it goes. Have noticed a differencei n the corals opening up though :( So hoping this sorts itself out soon, im going to do a 50L water change tomorrow night after university (bought the water today).

My coral order from last week arrive dtoday also. So the new zoa rock is in, as is the SPS frag (however shipping was poor (however the seller is willing to send out a new one should this one not make it) and the bags had no water in them, it had been pierced and was double bagged so still leaked. Very angry about it but hopefully it pullls through. Pics to come tomorrow as i wanted to wait for them to open up and what not.

Also purchased a Blue Streak Cleaner Wrasse (Really love the look of this fish and its behaviour is great, for the half hour i watched it), started cleaning within 5 minutes of being the tank. The angel loved him/her :p However i left for my girlfriends at about 3pm and got home around 11pm tonight and have not been able to find it unfortunetly :( So MIA for now...Going to wait till tomorrow and see how it goes (if i dont see it while moonlights are on currently), hoping its just hiding and getting used to its new tank.

The cleaner wrasse will need special attention when feeding. They will not be able to take large bits of frozen food and many will not go anywhere near flake food. Small frozen mysis shrimp that is further chopped up and fed 2-3 times a day works well.

Yeah i will be making the commitment to it :) Just couldnt find it tonight so no target feeding.

Any tips on gettig it comfortable with my hands to feed it?

Phew, came home today and straight to the tank. And the wrasse is crusing around in the flow of the powerheads and the coral beauty is chasing him around trying to get him to clean him it appears lol.

Going to try and spot feed the wrasse with choped mysis tonight see how he/she takes to it.

Would i end up squishing all my pods if i cleaned my glass with a magnetic cleaner?

Yeah :\ Going to clean it tomorrow and what ever happens happens i guess... Wont be happy to see the pods gone though lol.

My cleaner wrasse burried into the sand infront of my panancora tonight just before feeding time so wasnt able to spot feed it :S Hear this is normal when they are frightened or getting ready to sleep? I also saw it pull out a few pieces of what appeared to me slime or something from inside a rock crevice (that i couldnt see into) and spit it out into the tank... Guesing that was its "cacoon" lol.
