Eeeee! New Tank

Aparently so! LOL until i can get to go hand pick some frags...red it is, i actually quite like the red look, its a lot more interesting up close, my camera just wont catch it but the roccordeas mouths are green, one of the rodactis has green stripes which are really obvious up close.

Also the Zoa colony at the bottom is a box of the electric green zoas and orange ones...

I know I want some green star polyps... though i never had much luck keeping it before...

I know I want the green clove polyp... dont know scientific name but like these:
http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=green+polyps&hl=en&gbv=2&biw=968&bih=539&tbm=isch&tbnid=J4TZuDitOOX_dM:&imgrefurl=http://www.livingreefs.com/green-polyp-clove-turning-white-t24286.html&docid=MpsgBGQO2XSu5M&imgurl=http://www.livingreefs.com/attachments/5550d1266877311-green-polyp-clove-turning-white-cimg2838.jpg&w=640&h=425&ei=xEvlTvmnFMTP8gP599ifBA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=97&vpy=109&dur=1473&hovh=183&hovw=276&tx=151&ty=135&sig=110957000062565089217&page=10&tbnh=144&tbnw=193&start=72&ndsp=8&ved=1t:429,r:0,s:72

And eventually, if i can get away with it under the lighting, i would love a duncans coral...

And Jasmine Polyps! See loads of frags of this at the wholesaler... love it! So cute and delicate!

And Yellow Polyps (parazoanthid gracilis)...

So yeah... the tank wont stay red lol :)

Hehehe, somebody else is a picture whore. LOLOL

I'm kinda dense, been struggling with a cold. What's the size of the tank? Wish you could come up with something more interesting than a pair of clowns. Sorry, I'm not a huge clown fan.

That yuma looks good. They take frozen mysis with relish, btw. Nuclear green palys would look awesome in this tank. People say that corals don't need to be fed, but I like feeding my mushrooms & paly good bits of food, and once in a while, I'll even give my zoas a squirt of something planktonic. You don't want a build up of the symbiotic algae, especially if the lighting isn't too high. If you get too much of the symbiotic algae, the corals will go brownish on you and won't be as vibrant. Just my two cents. People laugh at me when I say I feed my zoas, but I swear as dense as I am, my brain's in the right place. Sometimes... :p

 I agree about the clowns! Beligerant, territorial and take up loads of space for their small size! However... have to put clowns in... and stick to fish that arent too 'out there' as it was put to me...

The tank is near enough 100L... taller than it is long.

Haha, i feed the zoas too! They all take krill, mysis, artemia and rotifer mix plus the Gamma Nutraplus liquid (not at the same time obv...). The riccordea is less interested but the rhodactis are real food pigs!! They dont just take the small stuff, the bigger ones will eat half a prawn! It scared me lol, looked more like an anemone the way it ate! I got confused when they first did it!

I caught that rogue snail/whelk thing this morning!!! Hooray!! I err.... couldnt bring myself to kill it LOL

I hear ya, gotta appeal to the masses. You are indeed selling stuff.

Not a bad size.

My stupid rule of thumb... If it's got tentacles, it uses them for a reason! My paly is especially a beast. I want more of them, but I don't have the space in the 8g anymore, but will be adding some to the planted marine. Last page of my 8g journals has pictures of my nuclear greens. You need to get some.

Yeah, I didn't kill a zoa nudibranch when I first caught one. They're very cute, IMO. Then I saw one munching on my fire & ice zoanthids, now I kill them on site. Briefly considered a 6-line for the 8g, but no, tank's too small, and they swim too much. So I just kill them whenever I see them. I kill the little blue asterina stars when I see them too. I kill anything that's particularly harmful. No mercy anymore. I've spent too much on the hobby to lose stuff to a hitch hiker. KEEEEEEL the rouge snail!!!

Duncans are low light, so you should be able to get away with one in your tank! Every LFS I go to they say low light medium flow... mine is quite happy with med-low light and medium/light flow.

Thats what i thought SaltNoob! I just havent kept them in years and didnt want to sound an idiot if i was remembering wrong LOL. I remember being surprised they were low/med light the first time round.

L, I havent killed the snail.. i couldnt yet... i might know someone who wants it for her 7L Fluval Spec now her Conch has died lol (was quarantining it and her water was spot on and it was sick anyway and what do you treat asnail with!?).

I have put it on the system in its own little tank, its really pretty! Im not sure its what i thought it was, has two grey/purple stripey antennae and a stripey snout and a patchy shell. Prtty little thing.

Really annoyed... had to go on an aiptasia rampage! Cant believe it. Why do i always get aiptasia lol. Had one on on side of the rock and about 7 tiny ones in a cluster, allgot jabbed and smothered in Aiptasia X though i know it often seems to take 2-3 doses to finish them off, its still more reliable than joes juice ever was or lemon juice so... bah!

Had to clean algae off the sand today  bane of my ruddy life... need to change flow anyway, not really bothered setting flow too much as until corals are sorted, dont know where im going to want the flow. They are happy as atm!

There are loads of zoas that i like but tbh i like the simple ones too :) I really want pink ones, those i dont see often!

And pink zoa video.... ooooooo

Yeah well :p I had a signal goby :fun: LOL

Im not sure if they are the pink zoas i mean, depends on lighting so much, i had some a whie back in my edge...

The ones i had looked like:

White Light

I am going to ask TMC (wholesaler) if they can get me in either a male, a pair or a 1:2 trio of Sailfin Blennies :good: thats what i really want!!

Yeah, those are mine, my camera just really captures cooler colors more. Those are my exact zoas. :D

At least when I look at them with my eyeballs.

Awww no fair!! Well... i WILL have some... just want to find a bargain like i did last time... i got a frag of rock with 20-30 heads on it for £5 ($7.74 USD).

Cost a fraction of what that puny little Sailfin Blenny cost me!

Yeah, mine was $6, for about 50 heads, though it has about 60 now. This is normal, usually things are cheaper in the US, because it is a magical land of plenty.

:p

I caught the darned snail the other day and its still living in a tank on the system... and now today i have pulled out 9 asterina(?) stars and a peachy/orange sluggy thing!

Realised i have seen them before but never realised it was a sluggy thing, i think last time i saw them, i assumed it was coral but this one was most likely munching my corals the little devil... so its living with the snail LOL will get photos of both tomorrow.

Bit hacked off... had two days off and no one bothered rescuing my pussy coral when it fell of/someones brat most likely tried to swing on the cabinet. So i picked it up and a branch fell off and looked all melted...

Tried my luck and superglued it to a rock frag and now i have two pussy corals! And managed to get somereally epic zoas, orange and electric green onesso i glued them onto the rock too, wasnt sure if it would work but they were starting to open up by the end of the day yesterday.

Algae is a right PITA atm as every day it coats the sand, same problem im having on the system and i havent got a phosphate or sillicate test kit yet. Water changed yesterday and added rowaphos to be safe and changed the flow to cover the sand.

Since cleaning the filter i cant stop it chucking through small bubbles so i have that to deal with today if its still doing it and im going to add pair of clowns if all is ok!!

Yawwwwwwnnnn i dont want to go to work today... its cold and icey :( but i have 25kgs of amazing liverock i picked up off someone shutting down their tank that i need to sort through!

What algae are you getting, cyano or diatoms? My picos had diatoms, but CUC took care of that. Now, my 36g had a mild outbreak of cyano early on. Man, blue-legged hermits and ceriths munch on cyano like nobody's business. But you gotta make it accessible. Ceriths are easy, they munch on it on the glass, but obviously blue-legs cannot do this. I would wipe it off the glass and when the flakes hit the floor, they go crazy. This information, however, is useless if you have neither algae. LOLOL

Get the pictures up, woman!

L

Cant find camera charger  wasnt my camera either! Whoops!

Its not cyano, its a diatom algae, possibly excess nutrients of some kind because the rowaphos is already helping a bit. And I've angled the flow a bit lower.

Its same as on the system, we just cant beat it!! The tanks can be clear in the morning then within an hour of the lights going on, there is a pale green film coating the sand and within 4-5 hours its a solid dark green layer over the sand...and only the sand!

I have another problem now... LOL

Discovered it wasnt the filter chucking through air... its the sand! I dont understand it!? Its only a very thin layer of sand as it only just coveres the eggcrate under it, but its producing loads of tiny bubbles, i keep stirring it up and it chucks out all the bubbles and then straight away it starts producing more. Its really weird! I tried donig a 'gravel clean' with a siphon when i did a small water change and it stopped it... for about half an hour.

Thought maybe nitrate bubbles or something but it doesnt matter which test kit i use, there just isnt any in there...

Oh and there is a pair of common clowns, ocellaris. They are kind of 'hosting' the cave at the front over the zoas LOL its funny, its not even the zoas, it the actual hollow at the front that they are 'hosting'. Weirdos! They are looking great, both were so worm ridden i had to use flubendazole, i dont like using it, it usually strips out too much from their systems but nothing was working and i lost a couple. Took two treatments and lots of vitamin and mineral enriched foods to get them back to health but they look...well.... like clowns not LOL.
