Hiya people,

Not sure how many keep them but im putting up this thread to allow people to show of there fish and set up.
Please include a little info regarding color morph and if you post your set up please include ph and size .. maybe even filtration set up too :)

Post away people,

Joel :good:

Here you go mate, you seen the pics before though I think ;)

Its a 300L tank, with 2 wpg, c02 injection, pmdd ferts and two eheim pro filters ith 50% water changes a week.

Stats are approx
nitrates 10-20
ph 6.8
KH and GH around 4-5
TDS around 200 with 60/40 tap to ro water mix (going to reduce ro to make the water harder and raise the tds to try and stop the discus breeding so often)

5x 12cm red turqs
1x 17cm brown
2x 7cm marlboro reds

Its a lot more planted now though

i was just wondering ... do you have to have a tall tank to keep discus

/???

Good quality Discus should be round in shape and they should all grow to the same size no matter which colour form they are. Having said that you do get slight variations, but not to make you need a bigger tank. An 18" or taller tank is ideal for Discus.

Why do some things say 6" discus size then other are selling 11" !! ???? I also have read there are 2 different species of discus which are split into 5 subspecies.

well done!

Please stop with the caplocks ... it looks like you are shouting at everyone.

Well done on your fish ... any piccys or details on fish and set up?

Joel

Well done on 'saving' the discus, I hope your planning on keeping more than 2?

As an aside I'd like to point out to others reading this thread that generally buying dark Discus is a very bad idea and you must be prepared to loose them, as normally they are beyond help. Also by buying them your actually supporting the LFS that 'shouldn't be allowed to keep fish' so why would they change?
