Hi all,
I thought I'd return to this thread as the Discus is displaying some symptoms associated with body flukes in that it is shaking it's head and jolting forward as though it is trying to rid itself of some irritation. I have treated the tank in succession and to no avail with WaterLife Sterazin (for treating suspected body flukes), WaterLife Protozin (for treating Velvet disease and Ich) of which is more potent as it contains copper sulphate and then lastly I switched to Kusuri Wormer Plus for the treating of internal helminths and body/gill flukes.
The ammonia and nitrite levels are at 0 ppm, the nitrate reading is 25 ppm and the aquarium temperature is 29.5 degrees C so this can't be the cause of the fish needing to jolt its self forward and shake it's head quickly.
I just do not know what to do to help it get better. Are Discus a difficult fish to successfully treat for external body parasites?
