Dawn On The Reef

Maybe if this is the case you should try and arrange replacement frags?
He is offering replacements but weither or not he's posting them is another question, He has, to his credit, offered (this time) to let me see proof of postage.
So what your saying is if he has proof of postage and the package has gone AWOL in the postal service then he can claim compo. Where does that leave me, when its me whose £60 out of pocket.
I just have to sweat it untill tomorrow to see what turns up.
Thanks for the advice though.

all i'm saying is that if he has proof that he has posted them then he has at least kept his end of the bargain.

Its the way that it will be viewed in a dispute.

Whether or not the insurance will cover it or not depends on the level of postage employed.

And if it does compensate him then surely he will send them frags on.

Word from the wise..
The post office wont insure anything *live* so all you will ever get back is the postage, and then only once he has claimed it from the PO. Also ebay wont pay out either as its classed as live :( Been there done that lost £150 cos the PO took 2 days to deliver a next day parcel.
Sorry about your loss Big C but I did put a not on my own diary about not ordering too many at once that way you dont loose too much if it goes awal :) Lesson well learnt on my part. Ive not bought any corals since then as it put me right off :(

Well just a little update, The guy I was slagging off has come up trumps. I ordered 3x zoa frags and he sent me a box full for all the trouble that was involved, he even threw in a couple of large snails (they now live in the sump) Took me a while arranging things (overkill really). Everything is closed up so I cant really get a good visual as yet. GSP have come out to play and I think some of the Xenia may make it (early days yet) Need to sit back now and let things take its course, mature and grow.
Will post some pics in the comming days
Question. Whats the best way to affix Recordia to a piece of rock/gravel. (they're wet and slimy creatures) Need a surefire way of fixing.

Best way is to allow them to stick themselves. Get a shallow small tray of some kind and add crused rock rubble to it. Place the shrooms in the tray on the rubble out of any current so they dont blow away. Some people cover with fine mesh to stop critters getting in and shifting them. They will in time stick to the rubble then you can then glue that to a larger bit of rock which can be placed into your rock work or epoxied into place. Super glue direct does not work as it just slips out in time and will get lost amongst the rock work.

Glad he came through on the corals :)

Great news BigC. Nice to see patience and decorum paying off once in a while :D

LM offers great advice on affixing rics. Just an FYI, it works great for any and all manner of softies :)

BigC {glad you got your corals :good: }

As I have said before a lot of hours must of went into the rock walls and your aquascapeing and now you have the corals in there your tank looks absolutely amazing I cant wait to see a FTS with all the new zoa, s and gsp ect in there they look like really beautiful specimens and once they mature and spread a little they are going to look absolutely stunning {keep up the good work Big C if my tank turns out half as nice as yours I will be really pleased :drool: }

Boy this Reef thing is getting a right PITA, just when you think you've got everything sorted, positioned and you've got it all worked out,(sit down and relax, cup of tea in front of the aquarium) some species of coral (namely Ricordia) packs its/their bags and decide to jump ship. I've tried everywhere in the bloomin tank for correct positioning (according to literature and internet advice) to no avail. (I'm gonna naill the blasted things down). I love my Recordia's as they really show their colours under Actinics in the evenings and I just dont want them to disappear behind the Liverock (with the help of the water circulation) as I wont, or find it extremely difficult to retreive.
I'm trying to keep my hands out of the water as much as possible now and enjoy the tank for what it is, but hey I dont seem to be able to get a minute...no make that a second, as this tank and sump is literally a full time ongoing maintenance job.
Big C if my tank turns out half as nice as yours I will be really pleased
Thanks John but as you can see from the above it an ongoing job.
I'm sure yours will be brilliant just sit down once your ready for the corals and plan what you like and where you would like them to go given their requirments and relative relationships to eachother, make sketches and try to visualise the "Big Picture" beyond the initial small frag insertions. I'm actually going to place some Macro Algae (Caulerpa prolifera) back into the main aquarium (giving myself more maintanence to perform)

See what you all think and any suggestions as regards to other coral species and placements will be greatly appreciated. See my Website (address below) for further information on this project (it is a work in progress mind so please excuse lack of content in certain areas)
