Cycling?

Im definetely going to be in fish stores over the weekend for some live brine shrimp and a new hydrometer I managed to break mine during the week  . Wont be a full fishing trip though as I will be busy reading a new book...

I remember my first fry - Oscars :D, my Dad let me take care of them in the tank in my room. I was most upset when they started to eat each other whole!

and me......

how to keep fish....

how to cycle a tank......

how to listen to advice..... and so on lol

Oscars eating each other whol, no way!! well im happy with my main tank now, as long as the dwarf gourami dont get hassled too much by the mollies, if they do (and I will only leave it 24 hours) I will take them back tomoorow ans exchange them for a few albino cory's.
so Just gotta work on that fry tank now, btw after I have added the cory to do a bit of fishy cycling, how do I keep the bacteria in the tank ready for any fry or a sick fish?

BTW I like Zeus, lets hope neither are female lol

When they are young they can grow at very different rate and within a few weeks the larger ones will eat the smaller ones whole, quite often have the tail hanging out their mouths as well... Lovelly fish oscars :D

The only good way to keep the bacteria going is to keep fish in there, and swap them over when the fry \ illness happens.

I was thinking more in the region of harry potter.....

and zeus is good

Yep thats what I will be reading, got to get 2 copies in our house one for me and one for my wife, still debating the midnight thing did it for the last one and fell asleep with the book in my hands and messed up my sleep pattern for a few days :D, we have our copies reserved.

definately ASDA for me, its only £5 there!!!!!

ok so keeping fish in there until swap over time, what would you suggest, the coys, mollys, gouramis or the RTBS, and would you add some substrate to it in that case?

i know i know question after flippin question

Thats a tough one its a tiny tank Id suggest probably the cory's but you will want to be spareing on the food and yeah Id go for substrate. Of course keeping corries only in a tank by themselves is ideal for cory breeding :D

good point, I think I may well give that a shot.......only thing is I have already filled the tank up so how am I gonna add substrate now?

add it carefully during a waterchange or just take a jug of water out put the substrate in then pour back in to bring the level up to where it should be.
