Crustyoneastcoast - 35 U.s. Gallon Fishless Cycle

Just reading up on emperor tetras and it seems they aren't really schooling fish, but like to hang out singly or in pairs. Just food for thought.

Hmmm ..

Seriously Fish says that they are shoaling fish. Is this not true? What is a reliable online source for learning about fish that I can trust?

Well, if emperor tetras are not really shoaling fish than I don't want them!

I want 6-8 schooling fish that will inhabit the middle of the tank.
Ideas anyone? (Keeping in mind that I will want to finish my stocking with the pair of Pearl Guoramis)

Harlequin Rasboras
Other Tetra Varieties?
Something else?

My black skirt tetras are wonderful. I have the long finned variety, so they look as graceful as angels without all the accompanying hassle of angels. They shoal beautifully. I do want more someday!

What I've learned is that for the most part, any shoaling fish will tend not to shoal when they're very comfortable in their surroundings, but will shoal when any perceived danger is present. So I don't even know how reliable the information I got about emperor tetras is.

Rummynose tetra or bloodfin tetra are fairly tight shoaling. (Rummynose more so than the others) and should be just fine in that tank.
