Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

My dad has an old Russian army gas mask. Would that work?

He won’t let you play with knifes? I play with knifes for fun! When I’m bored, I’ll just take mine out and start spinning it between my fingers and over the back of my hand. I can also do a half flip and a full flip. (I’m working on my 2x flip as well. ;))

Don’t tell my mom this stuff, or I’d get into some real trouble!:look:

I heard some russian gas masks have some asbestos in them... so stay away imho.

I can count on the Russian to make something that would kill their own guys. :alien:

All the old gas masks from WW1 and WW2 and even more recent wars like Korean and Vietnam have asbestos in them and should be avoided at all costs.

Sorry, I have to do this.
Gramma class for Pheonix.
Knife is singular, knives are plural.
eg: I carry one knife for self defence purposes.
The butcher has eight knives in his collection.

The world of the day is "Pedantic"
from Merriam Webster
"A pedantic person may do lots of annoying things, such as point out minor errors, correct people who make small mistakes, and brag about their own knowledge and expertise".

PS: PheonixKingZ posted another one word post...no wonder he has over 3000 posts

That's only because I taught you the word :D

The Coronavirus is spreading rapidly worldwide.
  • What is the present state of the virus in your country or state?
  • Do you know anyone who is infected?
  • What restrictions does your government have to prevent the spread of the virus?
  • Are you making any preparations such as stocking up on food and buying masks?
  • What is your opinion about the coronavirus..is it overblown; or do you feel there will be a pandemic?
Washington State here. 9 dead. Work in the health-care field so have begun wearing gloves or using a spoon when feeding our fish.

9 dead already?

I hear they are testing some dog medicine (a medicine used to treat the conronavirus for dogs) is being tested. But we won’t know if it works in humans for a couple of months.

I live in Seattle, WA--the apparent Ground Zero of the current epidemic in the United States.
  • The virus was unchecked in our community for at least 6 weeks prior to the first reported case, so any precautions are likely too late at this point.
  • I do not know anyone personally who is infected, but there is an office that was quarantined a few blocks from my house. I feel bad for the folks stuck in there. Every day we hear of more cases. There have been 9 deaths in King County so far.
  • The United States is really botching this up. We should have ceased international travel an instituted quarantine protocols as soon as officials were notified about this virus. There are folks leaving China and getting on planes in other countries, like Thailand, to get home. I saw a story about one family that did this on the news. They were not quarantined when they got to the U.S.
  • It was announced that once a vaccine was available in the U.S., that not everyone would be able to afford it. That's a serious WTF situation!
  • There is also a shortage of tests available, so many folks are getting sick and asking to get tested, then getting turned away. They are only testing people that are really sick/hospitalized. This will lead to more widespread infections.
  • I am not making preparations. The CDC has advised against masks. There were runs on the grocery stores all over Seattle this past weekend, then shelves were empty for two days. People are getting way too freaked out here.
  • I believe it is already a pandemic, we just don't know it yet. That being said, I don't think it's worth the fear and anxiety that the media is promoting.
