Coronavirus...post your thoughts here...

It could be worse. Think of those elderly people who live alone and do not have an internet connection. In the UK, a 2015 report showed that 45% of over 75s did not have an internet connection.
My router just rebooted itself and I couldn't connect to anything for a couple of minutes - it seemed like forever

I lost the internet twice yesterday. Once in the afternoon when it dropped out for a few minutes. My upload, download and ping speeds after that were crap, slower than dialup.

Then last night it dropped out again for about 4 hours and was working again today but not quite as fast as it use to be, but significantly faster than dialup.

Re: old people. Family members should give them a laptop and internet connection so they can communicate via videolink. At the very least workers in old people's homes could take in a laptop and let the patients use it.

The nursing home where my daughter-in-law's grandmother lives installed a video phone a couple of weeks ago. Son & d-in-l use whatsapp to talk to her.

Our internet connection is still as fast as it's capable of.

Internet holding up here so far with occasional glitches. Putting a lot of stress on it because wife and I both working form home using VPNs and in her case remote desktop. 2 IP phones, often have to use my mobile to connect because of congestion on the servers. My company has asked us not to use video on their system and use mobiles where possible. Some of my teams have started using external tools for meetings so we can use video on our own devices (can't use external tools on company laptops) cos we're in the 3rd week of 100% home working and all starting to go nuts.

Unfortunately everything is a meeting now cos you don't get to talk to people in the office, kitchen or corridors like you would do normally. I have attached external speakers and webcams to my home PC and work laptop because I got fed up with spending the whole day wearing a headset. I have actually extended all my formal team meetings by half an hour so we can spend the extra time just chatting about general non-work related stuff to get some sort of social interaction.

Only down side is I live in the UK, work for a Belgian company (they are one hour ahead of us) and have colleagues in the far east and u.s. so the idea of an 8 hour work day has completely gone out of the window - but then what else would we do . Of the guys I have spoken to today the French seem to have it the worst. They have to go onto a govt website and "apply" for permission to leave their homes. This is provided as an SMS and you can't leave home without authorisation :(

You will get use to it. I have been living in an 8x9ft room for the last 3 years and before that it was an 8x12ft room for 10yrs. The only contact I have with the outside world is the internet and occasionally complaining to the staff at the supermarket. And I'm completely sane, bwa ha ha ha haaaa

How could be know 10 days before he got it?
That week he went to Cheltenham Races with 250,000 others - not showing much caution there!

Well our pm boris Johnson spent time with a guy who ended up with it and he then went onto the royal family so...

You do not need proof to expect to have it, you just need the symptoms,

Theres a healthy 12 year old in ICU. My neighbors hospital said they would fire anyone in the spot for bringing their own masks
