I did reach out to one new outlet CTV news but have not heard any replies. I have to watch as up here the College of nurses will revoke a license for breach of confidentiality and my workplace will likely fire me if it gets out that I spoke to the news. I have revealed no names or locations and used a barely used email address.

If they sack you for leaking this info to the news, I think you could have a legal case on your hands. You might be breaching confidentiality at work, but you did it in the interests of helping save lives in the community. These are special circumstances and most people would be on your side. And unless you have signed a workplace agreement with a confidentiality clause in it, they won't have a leg to stand on.

It's like the judicial system. You can't sue a judge or magistrate even when they get it wrong, because they were acting in the best interests of the community.

In this case, you are acting in the best interests of the community by informing people of a known pathogen that is killing people right across the world.

Quite frankly, the hospital and your place of work should be investigated for letting this happen in the first place, and for not taking proper steps to prevent cross contamination. They should have erred on the side of caution due to the fact there is a pandemic spreading across the globe.

Why is the government ordering doctors and nurses to remain quiet about a pandemic?

I'm starting to sound like a conspiracy nut, but the government should not be ordering anyone to keep quiet about this matter. People have the right to know if they are going to a doctor's clinic or hospital that has a virus that kills old, sick or weak individuals.
