Just counted 5, but they're so tiny and move so fast, I really have no idea how many I have.

From the dried foods, I recommend tetra baby food. Make sure it falls on the bottom.
Or use some mulm from your filter, free microorganisms stuff and the babies don't mind the muck 

It's important to make sure they get enough food at least in the first week till they grow a bit more. It's then that they can't find it easily and it kind of slows their growth if you miss this point. That's why I think a smaller place is best for the first week, so they can't miss the food without you overfeeding and creating water quality problems in a bigger tank. When I used the box, food was falling on their heads literally

  They don't like moving much for that week too and when young are very easily scared and spooked so will hide away from the food

Actually, I did in a way, because I also put some melting/damaged leaves from the tank which naturally grow infusoria.
Give them plenty of moss and other plants to hide too. They love having the cover.
