Beginnings of a 220Uk gallon reeftank

Ok so its been a while since i last updated this diary but this doesnt mean we have not been busy with the tanks installation!

OK so the last photo was the floor being opened up.. now comes the next stage which is making a 6 inch concrete foundation for the stand to sit on...

And the next stage. Aquascaper did a great job on replacing the floor and constructing the base for the tank to sit on. Here is the stand with the frame on top to take the weight f the tank. once the tank is on it will be ready for cladding the stand.

The next post is the tanks arrival!!

wow looking awesome there.

do you need to drill the stand for sump holes?

the size of the tank kind of hits you when you build the stand doesn't it!! well did for me even though I had the tank.

OMG!!!! thats a huge tank...LUVS IT!!!!! but alot of work ..it's gonna be soo worth it when your all done tho!!!! plzz post pics of the fish u put in it!!!! :D :D :D :kewlpics:

 Indeed, sweeettt........

But the most important qustion yet is, what have you got planned to put in there?
I hope its some Lions......

Nice, keep updating

Looking good so far! Can't wait to see the tank in and being set up :)

Just one thing... Do you really need a TV in that room anymore? There will be enough going on in 'the reef' to keep you interested for hours!

Ben

Cool!!!

I want to see pics of the bank raid you must be planning for the live rock

Jon

Thanks for the comments guys!

Paul.MTS. If you look closely you will see the back part of the stand has a shoter brick. This is the same throughout the stand so the pipework will fit through here.

Mr_Miagi32. Alas no lions  Its going to be a full reef setup with many of the fish being far too small for a lionfish as wel. Even a fuzzy dwarf gets me nervous :-( (gorgeous fish though  ).

Nav....your wife must either have a heart of gold and the patience of a saint or.....be as "in" to fish keeping as you are!!!!

All looking good so far. Keep us updated.

OK so here is the arrival!

Edit: Forgive the quality.. the wife took and and she was laughing so hard she could not keep the camera steady.

First piccy.. hmm.. "Houston we have a problem" :p Door frame too low for tank by over 6 inches!

Ok plan B... Pull the base through and til the tank.. we nly have 6 inches of space in the hallway to tilt it though and with the tank tilted it was just under 0.5 of an inch fromthe ceiling!

tankmove2.jpg

Now we are getting somewhere...
tankmove3.jpg

And the tank is now in the room! just need to drag it through and turn it...

OMG Nav, that is awesome!!!
It took my hubby and his friend to bring in ours, lol. We "borrowed: suction cups to help lift ours in (yeah yeah we will return them, once the stand and the tank is sitting on the stand)
Tis pays to be a chick sometimes :shifty:
This is gonna look so awesome!!! :hyper:
